"Fellow IGFA Member Scott G. came in all the way from Wisconsin with his crew to fish on SWEETHEART today and was rewarded with a "BOAT RECORD" 44" Mahi-Mahi!! The monster took a cedar plug daisy chain with a bird splashing in front of the chain. Mrs. Mahi put up a great fight and did several spectacular jumps before Mate Bobby expertly stuck her with the gaff and brought her in the boat. (I'm putting a GoPro Camera on my Xmas list!) We also boated several dozen Bluefish on today's trip. Calm seas and fair winds made for a great day! Congratulations, Scott!"

Ever try to fish in a Washing Machine? Well, the famous Bux-Mont-Hatteras Fishing Team tried yesterday and Mother Ocean won. The seas were extremely unsettled despite a NOAA Ovean Forecast that called for nicely spaced 2 to 4 footers. We experienced steady, close together 5 to 7s with the occasional "Rogue Wave" thrown in for good measure. 10oz sinkers could not hold bottom in a wind driven current that was moving the boat along at almost 3 MPH!......waaaaaaaay to fast for Fluke fishing! We ran up to Delaware Bay and found similar wind and current conditions with at least smaller (but still unsettled) waves. A final stop in the protected waters of Cape May Harbor produced seaweed and no Fluke! Congratulations to the Team (Rod, Don, Kevin, John and Bill) for sticking it out. It was a bad day for fishing but the old adage is still true.......it's better than a good day at work!! Thanks, Guys!

The Bux-Mont-Hatteras Anglers Club will be here on Saturday to participate in the annual Jersey Coast Anglers Association Fluke Tournament. I have a plan all mapped out......hope the weather gods co-operate! Going for the GOLD this year!

Doc Milton and his friend Al fished with me today and we caught the BLUES.......Bluefin Tuna and Bluefish. The Bluefin was a short, fat football that was just under legal but it's still July and we have now caught 4 different Tuna species aboard SWEETHEART.......August here we come!

The Mahi and Tuna Flags are flying over SWEETHEART today!

Brandon, Bobby and Bill (The 3 B's) fished with me today and scored a Grand Slam on Ultra-Light tackle. They had a ball reeling in Mahi, Bonito, Albacore and Bluefish for several hours.

The bite is on, so...........Come On Down!

Pictures in a few minutes from my IT guy......my son Charley!

Congratulations to Capt Bill Simcox who managed a Grand Slam aboard SWEETHEART on Saturday topped by a beautiful 20+ Lb Black Drum in addition to several Fluke, Sea Bass and a Lingcod! The Drumfish came unexpectedly while Flukeing in the Ocean off Cape May. Bill had his hands full with a BIG fish on a very Light Rod! We had plenty of action between us but the Drum Bill caught was by far the best of the day. It was also the first Black Drum caught on the New SWEETHEART!

I'll post a picture as soon as I figure out how to do that. :).

Got a late start this year after arthritis surgery on my right hand (Yes....the casting and reeling one!). Probably caught too many fish in Hawaii and Florida this winter.

At any rate, the boat is in the water and ready to go with 2 new Sonars and a new 24 mile Radar.

Checking out an offshore Flukasarus spot this weekend with our excellent mate, Bill.

School is out so come on down and spend a day on the SWEEETHEART with me and shake off those winter blues!

Booked a Guide last week and WOW!!! Caught my first ever Snook (at least 6!) along with 3 Red Drum (Redfish in these parts) and 2 Speckled Trout (Southern Weakfish) which in the Tampa Bay area constitutes an Inshore Grand Slam! Fished with Capt Lori Denton of Ladyfish Charters (www.LadyfishCharters.com) out of Apollo Beach on her shallow draft center console. Lori KNOWS HER STUFF! She steered the boat into a shallow mangrove cove and the action was non-stop. I was hoping for my first Snook.....well, that took about 10 minutes! After I caught the Speckled Trout, Lori mentioned the Grand Slam and repositioned the boat in the same cove and sure enough, I was soon on to a Redfish! BTW, the Red had 9 spots! What a great day on the water. THANKS, Capt Lori, for a day I won't ever forget! If any of you get to the Tampa Bay area be sure to look her up.....you won't be disappointed!

........THANK YOU for allowing me to spend some time on the Deep Blue with you last season. It was certainly my pleasure to be your host and I look forward to seeing you again next year and yelling out my favorite two words..........."FISH ON!!"

My friends Bill, Rod and I took SWEETHEART for a beautiful 65 mile cruise up the Delaware River/Bay to her winter home in Historic Delaware City, Delaware, where she will be drydocked. I'm giving up Striper Season this year so that I can have time to install new electronics and other upgrades before it gets too cold for these old hands to work!!

The "New" SWEETHEART proved to be everything that I had hoped for.....no wonder Boston Whaler's enjoy such a great reputation! She handles the ocean very comfortably and the Doughtery Design hull provides a very dry ride! She's economical and fast.....a win-win for all of my valued fisher-friends because we get more time fishin' and less time running, AND, as you know, I was able to REDUCE charter rates this season.

So..........
