Rest in Peace car hauler.
FBI: Truck Driver Hijacked at Brevard County I-95 Rest Stop Found Dead in Georgia
The FBI has confirmed that 41-year-old Alejandro Jacomino Gonzalez, the Cuban-born commercial truck driver last seen alive at the I-95 southbound rest area in Grant-Valkaria, was found dead in coastal Glynn County, Georgia.
Gonzalez picked up a load of vehicles at the Port of Brunswick, Georgia on April 16 and was hauling them south to Miami when he pulled into the Brevard County rest stop around 1:21 a.m. on April 17 to sleep. GPS data from his rig shows the truck leaving the rest area just before 8 a.m. that morning, briefly heading south one exit, then turning around and heading north toward Jacksonville. Soon after, Gonzalez became unreachable.
The truck was located later that same day in Port Wentworth, Georgia. Gonzalez was not with it, and several of the vehicles he was hauling were gone. Three of the missing cars have since been recovered in Florida. Others remain unaccounted for.
The FBI's Tampa and Atlanta field offices are jointly leading the investigation into what agents are calling the "Brevard County Car Hauler Hijacking." The cause of death has not been released.
Investigators are asking anyone who was at or near the Grant-Valkaria rest area between 1 a.m. and 8 a.m. on April 17 to come forward with photos, dashcam footage, or any information that could help. They are particularly interested in footage of the southern portion of the rest area near the on-ramp back onto I-95 South.

Ernesto Gutierrez, president and CEO of the Professional Trucking Association Group and a 20-year veteran driver himself, told 10 Tampa Bay that Gonzalez's death has shaken the industry and that cargo theft has become a growing threat to drivers nationwide. Gutierrez is calling for stronger protections, including the possibility of allowing drivers to legally carry fi****ms on the road.
