✈️ DAY 1 | Arrival at Bahia Principe Escape Ambar 🇩🇴

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar is an adults-only, all-inclusive resort within the larger Bahia Principe complex in Punta Cana!

Arrival days are always long days! I arrived on a later flight, checked into my room, snapped a few resort photos, and quickly got ready for our mixology experience followed by dinner at Limbo.

🍹 Mixology Experience
This was such a fun way to kick off the trip! We learned about Dominican rum, sampled a few varieties, and even made our own drinks.

Fun fact: Many Caribbean islands produce their own rum, and each destination has its own unique flavors and styles. One of my favorite parts of traveling is getting to experience little pieces of the local culture like this!

🍽️ Dinner at Limbo
Dinner was VERY good, and I would absolutely recommend making a reservation here during your stay!

🛏️ My Room
My room was spacious and clean, with comfortable beds and pillows—which is SUPER important to me!

A few things that stood out:
• Rain shower + handheld sprayer
• Great water pressure AND plenty of hot water 🙌
• AC worked really well and kept the room comfortable—not humid
• Ceiling fan! ❤️ I love when resorts have these.

💰 Who is this resort a good fit for?

This property prices really well for travelers looking for a more entry-level adults-only, all-inclusive experience in Punta Cana.

And this is something I say all the time: Not all all-inclusive resorts are created equal—and that’s okay!

It doesn’t necessarily mean one resort is “better” or “worse” than another. Different resorts are designed for different travelers, expectations and budgets.

For example, if you’re someone who loves the overall experience and level of inclusions you get at Sandals, this probably wouldn’t be the property I’d recommend for you. But for another traveler, it could be exactly what they’re looking for.

That’s why choosing a resort should go far beyond scrolling through pretty pictures online. The right resort is the one that matches YOU, your expectations, your budget and the type of vacation you want.

I just returned from the ALG Vacations Pros on the Go Familiarization trip!

Where we visited 14 resorts in the Dominican Republic and had a day off classroom training!

I do this so I can learn first hand in destination what properties are really like beyond online photos and information! This way I can match clients to the best property for them!

🌴 One of yesterday’s stops: Dreams Macao Beach Punta Cana! 🇩🇴

One of the things I loved learning more about today was Macao Beach itself.

Unlike many of Punta Cana’s more developed resort areas, Playa Macao has long been known for its more natural setting and its waves — it’s actually a popular beach for surfing. 🌊 So if you love a completely calm, pool like ocean, this may not be your beach. But if you love a gorgeous beach with waves and a more natural feel, it’s pretty special.

Another interesting difference? Dreams Macao Beach is currently one of the very few resorts along this stretch of beach, so it feels quite different from areas where resort after resort lines the shoreline.

As for Dreams Macao Beach itself? Beautiful property, fantastic family amenities, a water park and lazy river, and that gorgeous Macao Beach right out front.

This is exactly why I love touring resorts in person. The beach and location can be just as important as the resort you choose! ❤️

Good morning from Punta Cana! 🇩🇴🌴

I’ve officially arrived and am settling in at Bahia Principe Luxury Ambar, my home for the next few days!

First impressions? The beach is absolutely beautiful, the resort is gorgeous, and so far…the food has been really good and staff extremely friendly. 🙌

Today the real work begins! I’ll be touring several resorts throughout Punta Cana, checking out the rooms, beaches, pools, dining, amenities and all those little details that help me match my clients with the right resort, not just a pretty one online.

✈️ After six months, it feels SO good to be back in the air!

There’s just something about looking out an airplane window and seeing that Caribbean blue below. 💙🌴

I’m headed to the Dominican Republic for a week of resort tours, site inspections, and experiencing properties firsthand, because there’s no substitute for actually seeing the resorts I recommend to my clients.

Punta Cana has SO many all-inclusive resorts… but they are definitely not all the same. 🌴

Some are better for honeymoons.
Some are great for families.
Some are all about nightlife and pool parties.
Some are better for destination weddings.
And sometimes paying more for an upgraded room or club level is absolutely worth it.

Next week I’ll be touring a long list of Punta Cana resorts, and I’m going to be comparing all of those things firsthand.
