I had a doctor's appointment in Louisville the other day. I got a decent report, so we decided to grab a bite to eat. We wanted to try something new too. So, we ended up at Yummy Pollo.
The server rotisserie chicken that's cooked with/over charcoal. We ordered a whole chicken to split with two sides (for two). We ordered cilantro lime rice and chickpeas for sides. We also added a couple pieces of bread (pita-ish). It came with a little cup of what I assumed to be chimichurri sauce (the green one) and some sort of mayonnaise type sauce. The white sauce tasted like tartar sauce without the chunkiness.
The chicken was delicious. The white and dark meat were both tasty. It has a nice smokey flavor and was really good dipped in either sauce. Lucky for me, the wifey doesn't like to eat meat off the bone, so I got to pick those clean as well.
We chose the rice and chickpeas because we wanted something we couldn't get in our small hometown. The chickpeas were great, and I really liked the sauce/gravy they were on. The rice was good as well, and it went really well with the chickpeas. The bread was decent, but we could have left it off entirely.
Overall, the place was definitely a hit. There's not much variety other than the sides, but the chicken was good enough for a return visit.
