You can advance the throttle on Mercury EFI engines if needed, especially on cold days or after the boat has sat all winter. This doesn't apply to Optimax engines. Only the EFI models. Note: starting an Optimax engine with the throttle advanced will immediately cause a continuous warning horn to sound. Again, this is for EFI engines only

Important information on this OMC ignition switch. They can also be found on Etec engines. As always, only use an OEM lanyard! The aftermarket replacements are junk and will not work properly. Without the lanyard clip installed, you will have a lot of trouble starting the engine cold.

This video explains the ignition switch along with the operation of the emergency kill lanyard. You must have the lanyard clip installed on the switch as shown, or your ignition switch won't work properly.

A tank test on Dillons 1973 40. It's a good runner. New points, condensors,spark plugs,impeller, impeller housing, carb rebuild with OMC kit,rebuilt fuel pump, sync and link,stop switch repair, shift rod O-ring, pressure test gearcase and new gear l**e . New fuel lines as well
