Here are some helpful tips to stay safe if you need to use in-flight Wi-Fi. These tips also apply to hotel Wi-Fi and any public Wi-Fi.
• Before you leave for your trip, be sure to update your systems and download any media you'd like to enjoy during the flight.
• Verify the network before connecting; ask your flight crew for the exact name of the official airline Wi-Fi network.
• Use a trusted Virtual Private Network (VPN) to encrypt your web traffic.
• Steer clear of sensitive tasks. While in flight, never log in to your online bank accounts, check sensitive financial portfolios, or enter critical passwords.
• To keep your files private, simply turn off sharing options like file sharing, network discovery, and AirDrop on your laptop or phone.
• Make sure the websites you visit show the secure lock icon and use HTTPS.
