Where should you travel in October? 🍂☀️

October is one of those months where your trip can look completely different depending on what you’re craving: peak fall foliage, w**e country, Europe without the summer crowds, or a few more days of summer in the Caribbean.

These are a few places we’d have on our list this month & where we’d stay in each.🤍

Sonoma W**e Country
October in Sonoma W**e Country puts you right in the heart of harvest season. For the traveler that wants beautiful weather with days centered around great w**e and food. A great base for exploring different w**e regions without constantly moving hotels.

Stay: Montage Healdsburg
Montage puts you right in w**e country with plenty of w**eries nearby, while still giving you plenty to do without leaving the property. There are w**e tastings and w**emaker experiences, hiking and biking, Spa Montage, and Hazel Hill for dinner overlooking the vineyards. All rooms feel private and come with private terraces & fire pits.

Curacao
For the traveler who wants to hold onto summer a little longer. 🌴
Curaçao sits outside the main hurricane belt, making it one of the Caribbean destinations we’d consider for an October beach trip. The island is known for its clear water, snorkeling and diving, secluded beaches, and colorful Willemstad, so there’s plenty to explore between slower beach days.

Stay: Baoase Curaçao
Baoase is small and intimate with a mix of suites and villas surrounded by tropical gardens and a private beach. A private feel while still having the service and amenities of a luxury resort.

Vermont
Come October, Vermont is surrounded by fall foliage, crisp weather, and plenty of reasons to spend the day outside before ending it fireside.

Stay: Twin Farms
Your stay includes all meals, cocktails, w**e and spirits, plus most activities and equipment, so this is one of those places where you can check in and really settle in for a few days.

Pro tip: Book the Treehouse! Each is tucked up into the trees with its own fireplace and private deck which is pretty hard to beat during foliage season.

Portugal
October brings milder temperatures, making it a great time to pair a few days exploring Lisbon with time

A hotel can be one of the world’s best and still be wrong for you.

The Top 50 Hotels of 2026 is full of incredible properties, but a hotel making a “best of” list doesn’t automatically mean it’s the right fit for every traveler.

When we’re recommending a hotel, we’re thinking beyond how beautiful it is. We’re looking at who’s traveling, what matters most to them, where they’re going, and how they want the trip to feel.

So we pulled a few of our favorites from this year’s list, shared why we love them, and the kind of client we’d recommend them to.

Atlantis Royal, Dubai
High-end, modern, and unapologetically over-the-top. Sam got a preview of the rooms while the property was still being built, and the design immediately stood out to her. We’d consider it for clients looking for a big, spectacular Dubai resort experience.

One&Only Mandarina
A completely different take on a beach resort, combining the jungle, coastline, and incredible treehouse accommodations. One of Sam’s favorite experiences here is the horseback riding. With a full equestrian center, experienced riders can even take the horses onto the beach. Great for clients who want a beach getaway with a strong connection to nature and a little adventure.

Nihi Sumba
One of those places that’s hard to explain until you see it for yourself. Sam stayed here on her honeymoon and still considers it one of her favorite places in the world. The sundown hour was one of the highlights of her honeymoon: a DJ, cocktails, incredible food coming off the grill, and watching surfers in the water as the sun set. We’d recommend it for honeymooners or clients looking for a truly remote, unforgettable experience where the destination itself is the vibe.

Raffles Singapore
Iconic, historic, and deeply connected to its destination. Sam started her honeymoon here, and after a long travel day, one of her favorite things was being able to spend the morning lounging by the rooftop pool while still having the city easily accessible. We’d recommend it for travelers who want a true sense of place & value history.

What we booked for September honeymoons based on what our clients wanted. 🤍

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to honeymoon planning.

Every couple has different priorities, different things they want to experience, and sometimes even things they know they don’t want. That’s what we use to build a custom honeymoon itinerary.

For these 3 September honeymoons, their priorities led us in three very different directions:

A cozy fall getaway in the Catskills, perfect for a long weekend. 🍂

If you’re in NJ, NY, or CT and looking for somewhere to escape for Columbus Day weekend, Scribner’s Catskill Lodge is the kind of place we’d have on our list.

It’s about a 2.5-hour drive from NYC, making it an easy option for a 2 or 3 night getaway with the added bonus of the Catskills at their most scenic.

Some of our favorite reasons to go:
🐶 Dog Friendly: Scribner’s is genuinely dog-friendly, with dogs welcome throughout the property and plenty of nearby trails and outdoor space to explore together.

🏨The Round Suites: A must when staying here. These circular cabins are around 800 square feet, with a separate bedroom and living area, fireplace, private deck, and outdoor soaking tub. They’re especially nice when you want a little more space to spread out — whether you’re traveling as a couple, with your dog, with a little one, or both, (like Sam did!).

🍽️ Food & Drink: Prospect, the on-property restaurant, serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, making it easy to stay in for a cozy meal after a day exploring.

🌲Nearby Area: Hike the surrounding Catskills, explore nearby Hunter, grab coffee, or spend the afternoon around the property. There’s plenty to do without needing a packed itinerary.

The couple was looking for a two-week honeymoon with a mix of adventure, relaxation, culture, and incredible food.

Portugal immediately came to mind.

The goal? To create a honeymoon that has everything they wanted without feeling like they need a vacation from their vacation.

How we balanced sightseeing + downtime on an 8-day Italy trip with a 9-month-old🇮🇹🤍

When our clients came to us, they had a wedding in Rome and wanted to extend their trip to see parts of Italy they’d never seen before while bringing their daughter, son-in-law, and brand new grandson.

They wanted a balance of sightseeing, w**e, food, and downtime, all while keeping travel easy with a baby.

We built their trip around Portofino, Tuscany, and Rome, which allowed us to keep travel time more manageable with the baby while still giving them the mix they wanted.

Starting in Portofino as their home base on the coast, their first full day was spent on a private yacht with time to swim and snorkel along the way.

Traveling with a baby doesn’t mean you have to give up exploring, it just changes how you plan it.

We built in private drivers at their disposal so they could explore surrounding areas without being tied to a rigid tour schedule.

Our clients always wanted to see the Leaning Tower of Pisa, so we built it into their transfer from Portofino to Tuscany allowing them to see the city without overloading the day.

One of the most important priorities for this trip was making sure the hotels we chose had accommodations that provided enough space to fit a crib.

We put them in a villa at Borgo Pignano so the family could have the space and privacy of a home while still having access to a five-star property.

And their private pool was a hit with the baby!

Another priority for this trip was food & w**e. We continued to choose experiences that could be enjoyed at their own pace, including a private driver at their disposal for eight hours throughout Chianti.

Then it was time to head to Rome for their last stop of their trip where we arranged more driving tours while in Rome, (including a Golf Cart tour!)so they could see the city’s historic highlights without spending the entire day walking with a baby.

Being intentional was huge when planning this trip.

With a 9-month-old along for the ride, we wanted to be thoughtful about everything! From the hotels we chose to the activities we booked and how

3 trips we wouldn’t wait until the last minute to book & why. ✈️

🎄 Festive season
This one is probably the biggest. Everyone has time off. Everyone wants to be with their family. And, for the most part, everyone wants to be somewhere warm! This means the hotels and destinations everyone wants for Christmas & New Year’s can fill up quickly, especially those harder-to-get properties. Waiting too long can mean compromising on where you stay, when you travel, or what’s available.🌴

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Multi-generational trips
When you’re traveling with grandparents, parents, kids and everyone in between, finding the right room configuration is a whole different ball game. Connecting rooms, multi-bedroom accommodations and the right setup for your family can require more planning, especially when you have a specific preference in mind.

🦁 Africa
Safari lodges tend to be small, which means the best properties and most desirable room categories can book up well in advance. If you have a specific lodge or safari experience in mind, we’d rather start early and have options than try to make what’s left work.

If you haven’t started thinking about your festive travel, you may already be too late!
Our rule? If the trip is important to you and you have a specific vision for it, we’d rather start planning & booking early. 🤍
