Sixteen years of dedication says a lot about an employee, but for Esteban Garcia, it's the work he puts in every day that has earned the respect of those around him. Throughout his time with WDT, Esteban has taken on different responsibilities, gained valuable experience, and established himself as someone the Portales team knows they can count on.

Today, as a Yard Laborer, Esteban takes pride in making sure drivers have a clean, safe workspace by thoroughly detailing the interiors of WDT trucks. While it may be a job that happens behind the scenes, his attention to detail helps create a better experience for the drivers who spend so much of their time in those trucks.

Esteban also brings an additional set of skills to the job. Early in his career with WDT, he learned to perform maintenance on trucks, and that experience continues to be valuable today. While detailing, he's able to recognize and address minor repair needs, helping catch small issues and supporting the maintenance team.

His manager, Bobby Garcia, says that willingness to take initiative is one of the things that makes Esteban stand out.

"He recognizes what needs to be done and takes care of it, which helps keep the operation running smoothly and takes some of the workload off the rest of the team," Bobby shared.

That kind of ownership has been a constant throughout Esteban's 16 years with the company. Having served in several roles, he's developed a strong understanding of the operation and continues to step in wherever he's needed.

Bobby describes him as "Dependable — dedicated to WDT for 16 years, he has served in many roles and consistently steps up wherever needed."

When he's away from work, Esteban enjoys riding his motorcycle with friends and family, along with camping and fishing trips with his family.

Loader Driver, Portales, NM

For 12 years, Andrew Urias has been part of the team at WDT, building the kind of consistency that comes from knowing the job, the operation, and what it takes to keep things moving day after day.

As a Loader in Portales, Andrew is responsible for much more than simply moving from one stop to the next. His supervisor, Lavinia Gruis, says he does an excellent job taking care of the Hettinga barns and can consistently be counted on to handle loads properly. He also takes exceptional care of the trucks, barns, and equipment he works with throughout his shift.

For Andrew, one of the skills that has made the biggest difference over the years is straightforward: time management. Staying on schedule while managing the responsibilities that come with each load requires planning ahead and making good use of every part of the shift.

That consistency is also reflected in Andrew’s communication. Lavinia says he is always on time, keeps dispatch well informed throughout his shift, and can be relied upon to take care of his responsibilities without hesitation.

“Andrew is an outstanding and highly dependable driver who consistently exceeds expectations, communicates exceptionally well, takes pride in being a great loader, and can always be counted on to get the job done right,” Lavinia shared.

After 12 years with WDT, Andrew’s reliability and pride in his work continue to make a difference for the Portales team. Away from work, he enjoys spending time with his family and his horses.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we’re adding a little pink to our Online Store!

For a very limited time, employees can order special pink apparel to wear throughout October in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Breast cancer has touched the lives of so many of our employees, families, and friends. October is an opportunity to show support for those currently facing breast cancer, celebrate survivors, remember those we’ve lost, and encourage awareness and early detection.

THE PINK SHOP IS A FLASH SALE!

Pink items will be available beginning today, September 25, after 4:00 PM, and ordering will close Wednesday, September 30, at 8:00 PM.

This short ordering window allows all orders to be produced together and shipped quickly, with employees receiving their items no later than October 9, so there’s still plenty of October left to wear your pink!

A few appointments are still available for our Mobile Mammography Event on October 1st!

Western Dairy Transport is partnering with Ozarks Healthcare to bring mobile mammography services right here to Cabool — and this event is open to the public.
Appointments are available from 9:00 AM–4:00 PM at the WDT HR Office, 351 Peabody Ave. in Cabool.

Both insured and self-pay patients are welcome.

For WDT employees and eligible family members: If you are covered by the WDT health insurance plan, your screening should be covered according to plan benefits. If you are not enrolled in WDT insurance, WDT will cover any remaining balance associated with the screening.

Appointments are required, and only a few spots remain!

Keeping trucks moving through the wash process takes a lot more coordination than most people ever see. For Brenda Hulse, that means organizing the wash schedule, maintaining the CIP binder, assisting with inventory, and staying in constant communication with management, dispatch, drivers, and the crew on the floor.

“Coordinating the order of washes and staying in constant communication keeps our turnarounds running as smoothly as possible,” Brenda shared. Her attention to detail helps ensure each step of the process stays organized, and trucks are clean and ready to get back on the road.

Working in an environment where priorities can change quickly has also helped Brenda develop skills she uses well beyond her role. “Juggling constant updates between drivers, management, and the floor forces you to stay adaptable and think three steps ahead,” she said. That experience has strengthened both her logistics skills and her ability to communicate effectively in real time.

Outside of work, Brenda uses her attention to detail in a completely different way. She enjoys creating custom wood-burning artwork, decorative plaques, and handmade gifts for family and friends. When she isn't working on her latest project, she enjoys getting outdoors and spending time in nature.
