🥔 POTATOES WITH PURPOSE.

If you’ve driven by NoKota lately, you may have noticed something new!

Our entrance and exit signs have a fresh look, and while we love the new design, it’s the message on the front that means the most to us:

Potatoes with Purpose.

It’s a simple phrase, but it says a lot about where NoKota is headed.

Over the past few months, we’ve been doing a lot of work behind the scenes—working through the EOS process, defining our Core Values of Purpose, Integrity, Accountability and Growth, strengthening our leadership team, investing in our people and operation, and taking a fresh look at how we tell the NoKota story.

Through all of that work, one thing keeps coming back to the center:

Purpose.

There’s purpose in the potatoes our growers raise.
Purpose in the work our employees do every day.
Purpose in serving our customers well.
Purpose in supporting our community.
And purpose in continuing to grow a company that has been rooted right here in Buxton since 1979.

The sign may be new, but those roots certainly aren’t.

As we keep growing, changing and planning for the future, we want to be intentional about building on what has always made NoKota special.

Potatoes with Purpose. 🥔❤️
We think that fits us pretty well.

And next time you’re driving by, check out both sides of our newly refreshed sign!

🌊 THE HEART OF NOKOTA: A Sea That Became Soil

It's hard to imagine when you're standing in the middle of a North Dakota potato field...

but thousands of years ago, you might have been standing underwater. 🌊

Welcome to the story of Glacial Lake Agassiz.

Near the end of the last Ice Age, an enormous glacial lake covered much of what is now the Red River Valley and beyond.

Over thousands of years, the lake expanded, receded and eventually disappeared—leaving behind layers of sediment across its basin and helping shape the remarkably flat landscape we know today.

And eventually, that ancient lake bed became farmland.

🌾 Wheat.
🌱 Soybeans.
🌽 Corn.
🥬 Sugarbeets.

And, of course...

🥔 Red River Valley potatoes.

Long before NoKota was founded in 1979, the foundation for our story was already being created beneath an ancient lake.

That's quite a beginning.

LABOR DAY | Every Potato Has a Purpose. And Every Potato Has People Behind It. ❤️🥔

Before a bag of Red River Valley potatoes reaches a grocery store, there are a lot of hardworking hands behind it.

Growers preparing the soil and tending the crop.
Crews spending long days in the field.
Truck drivers hauling loads.
Our NoKota team receiving, storing, washing, grading, packing and shipping them.
And countless others who keep everything moving along the way.

As we head toward one of the busiest—and most exciting—times of our year, Labor Day feels like the perfect opportunity to recognize the people who make it all possible.

To our growers, employees, partners and everyone who works behind the scenes: thank you for the work you do.

Happy Labor Day from all of us at NoKota Packers! 🇺🇸🥔

🥔 OFF-SEASON, ON PURPOSE | FOCUS #10 SUPPORTING OUR INDUSTRY

Sometimes being Off-Season, On Purpose means stepping outside of NoKota and showing up for the industry we’re proud to be part of!

This weekend, Christopher — Owner, Storage, Transportation & Facilities — and Ryne — Storage & Grower Support — volunteered at the Northland Potato Associates tailgating booth during the UND Potato Bowl. 🏈🥔

And what better way to celebrate the Potato Bowl than with FREE baked RED RIVER VALLEY potatoes?!

They helped serve potatoes to fans throughout the tailgate — and apparently people were hungry for some Red River Valley spuds because they SOLD OUT! 🙌

Events like this are a great reminder that what we do is bigger than any one farm, packing shed or company. It takes growers, shippers, industry partners and a whole lot of great people working together to tell the story of the Red River Valley potato industry and share the product we’re all so proud of.

A big thank you to Christopher and Ryne for representing NoKota and giving their time to support our industry — and to Northland Potato Associates for continuing a pretty great Potato Bowl tradition!

Growing potatoes. Supporting our industry. Sharing Red River Valley pride. 🥔💚

🌱 Off-Season, On Purpose. Supporting today. Investing in tomorrow.

🥔 FUN FACT FRIDAY!

Did you know a potato doesn't stop being alive when it's harvested?

Potatoes continue to respire after they're removed from the ground—using oxygen and releasing heat, moisture and carbon dioxide.

That's one reason temperature, humidity and airflow matter so much when storing fresh potatoes.

And it's just one example of how much care happens after a potato leaves the field.

We're going to show you a whole lot more about that this year as we take you Behind the Spuds! 👀🥔

🌾 THE HEART OF NOKOTA: Before the First Potato

Before the grower.

Before the seed.

Before the planter.

Before NoKota.

Before the first potato...

there was the land. 🌾

Stretching across eastern North Dakota and western Minnesota, the Red River Valley is home to some incredibly productive agricultural land.

For those of us who live here, it's easy to drive past miles and miles of fields without stopping to think about how extraordinary the ground beneath us really is.

But without it, there is no crop.

No harvest.

No NoKota.

And no potato journey to tell.

That's why The Heart of NoKota doesn't begin inside our packing plant.

It begins here.

In the fields.

In the dark soil.

With the land that makes everything else possible.

Next week, we're going back thousands of years to discover how an enormous glacial lake helped shape the Valley we call home.

❤️ Every Potato Has a Purpose. And every one begins with the land.
