We are excited to share that Phoenix Motor’s acquisition of Proterra’s Transit business line has successfully closed. This begins a new chapter for our Transit business line under the ownership of Phoenix Motor, effective January 11, 2024.

Our goal through the Chapter 11 process has been to maximize the value of each of our product lines. Today’s news represents an important milestone towards that objective.

We are grateful for the contributions of our Transit teammates and wish them well as they embark on this exciting new chapter with Phoenix Motors.

Arvin Transit in California is pioneering affordable electric vehicle adoption with Proterra's Valence Energy Management Software.

"Thanks to Valence, we avoid expensive peak charging hours in California, typically from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM, where it would cost us around $3 to $4 per kilowatt hour (kWh). Instead, we charge during off-peak hours, for less than $0.25 per kWh, ensuring our buses are fully charged and ready for our drivers without straining our budget”

Today we launched North America’s largest electric motorcoach charging facility alongside ABC Companies!

Located in Newark, California, the innovative facility is equipped to charge up to 40 electric VanHool motorcoaches with 20 dual-cable EV charging dispensers and can support up to 1.4 megawatts of EV charging power.

Cherokee Central Schools recently became the first school district in North Carolina, and one of the first tribal schools in the U.S., to launch an electric school bus. Katie Tiger, Air Quality Program supervisor for the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI), and Donnie Owle, Service Manager for the Cherokee Boys Club, were instrumental to this historic deployment.
