This evening at 1840 hours, Niles Township Fire was dispatched to the area of Bertrand Road and Adams Road for a reported structure fire. Squad 14, Engine 14, and 67 Truck were dispatched on the full still alarm. Squad 14 arrived first due within minutes of dispatch to find a heavily involved garage fire with extension to the home, and a second alarm was struck on the box. Squad 14 set up an aggressive attack, and was able to rescue 2 cats and save the home.

Thanks to all of our mutual aid companies for the much needed assistance. All units knew their jobs and executed perfectly. Working and training together helps to yield positive outcomes on calls.

Update:

Bertrand Twp. Fire and Niles Twp. Fire were dispatched to the 1900 block of Foundation Dr. for a report fire by a bystander. Bertrand 501 upgraded the response by requesting a commercial box for addition agencies. Upon arrival Bertrand 501 reported a working fire on the roof of the structure. As units arrived on scene, the fire was suppressed quickly.
