I hear this ALL the time! How do you make your money? Won’t I save money if I book direct? Why use a travel advisor when I’ve traveled with this company time and time again? Well it’s simple:
Here is the breakdown of how commissions work:

Built-in Cost: Travel agent commissions are typically built into the base price of hotels, cruises, tours, and vacation packages.

Booking Directly (No Agent): If you book directly with a hotel or cruise line, they do not pay a commission to a third party. Instead, the vendor simply keeps that money as profit. The price you pay is usually the same, regardless of whether an agent is involved.

Online Booking Sites (OTAs): If you book through sites like Expedia or Booking.com, they collect a commission, similar to a travel advisor.

Bottom Line:
Using a travel agent rarely costs you more out-of-pocket. Instead, you are paying for the service regardless, but using an agent ensures you get professional support, while booking yourself means you do all the work and the vendor keeps the markup!
