Reminder, VMC Club has been rescheduled for tonight instead of the normal Thursday due to the MAAC Fly In.

VMC Club will be tonight at 6pm in the chapter building. Open to chapter members and early MAAC arrivals as well. See you tonight!9

MAAC Fly-In starts Thursday and volunteers are needed to help make this great event a success. Volunteers are needed to help serve meals and clean-up after the event. Please consider volunteering.

Areas of particular need are Thursday dinner, Friday dinner (kitchen), Saturday pancake breakfast, and as always Sunday clean-up.

In an effort to better forecast manpower needs, we are trying something new this year. This year we are using SignupGenius, a website that allows us to set up the event with time slots and requested volunteers. It's easy to use! Simply use the link below and grab your spot(s).

To sign up for a spot, click on the link below. You will see a screen listing every day and time slot that we need volunteers for. There is a button to the right that says "sign up".
Click that button. ***Note, you can click on multiple "sign up" buttons on that page to volunteer for as many spots as you want. When you have selected your spot(s), there will be a button on the bottom of your screen that says "save and continue". Click on that button and you will be directed to the next page to enter your name and phone number. I have heard from several people that there are a few ads on the pages so do be careful not to click on those.

Due to the heat and thanks to a generous offer from Kelch, tonight's EAA Chapter 431monthly gathering will be held at the Kelch Aviation Museum.

Our next Monthly Chapter Gathering is tonight at 7:00 pm with a meal to those who would like to come early at 6:00 pm. The meal this month of brats is provided by Matt Delong and Family.

This months guest speaker is Ryan Seib an attorney with AOPA who will talk about legal topics including hangar sales, dealing with the FAA in a ramp check, reporting to the FAA after a DUI, and other legal topics. Thanks to Jon Zarinnia for suggesting Ryan and making the introduction. We welcome suggestions for future speakers. Please contact Rich with your suggestions.

If you are interested in joining the Food Committee and helping prepare for the MAAC Fly-In please contact Rich or Ben. This important committee is instrumental in making our fly-ins a success. Please consider helping out.

For those who aren't able to attend the Chapter Gathering, there will be a workday this Saturday, September 5 from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm to prepare the chapter building and surrounding grounds for the upcoming MAAC Fly-In. Please join us to help get ready for this great event. Lunch will be provided for those who attend.

Last night was the final night of our EAA Chapter 431 Ground School. CFI Astrid celebrated at the end of the class with Checkride Jeapordy and pizza for the class. Thank you to all who attended the last 12 weeks and best of luck to those of you who continue your aviation journey. Join the EAA Chapter and attend our next meeting Tuesday Sept 1 at 7pm to connect with others who have done this before you and to meet some who are also beginning the process.

We are especially thankful to Astrid for putting the class together and devoting her time and effort into making this a success! Without her hard work non of this would have been possible. Thank you Astrid!

This Wednesday, 8/26, is the last night of our Ground School.

There will be a short presentation on the checkride process, what to expect, and some tips for success. After about 30 minutes, we’re switching gears and playing AVIATION JEOPARDY!!! 🎉

And, most importantly… there will be pizza. 🍕

I’d love to have some more pilots and CFIs join us for the evening. Come hang out, eat some pizza, test your aviation knowledge, and help give our students a fun send-off after 12 weeks of ground school!

Wednesday anytime after 6:00 PM — Kelch Museum at Brodhead Airport.

Reminder, VMC Club is tomorrow Thursday 8/13 6pm at the EAA Chapter 431 Building on Airport Road in Brodhead. Please support this new club by attending! Come join us for this great scenario based learning experience and earn WINGS credit.

CFI’s Astrid and Spencer will lead the discussion and attendees are welcome to share their experiences as well. This is a great way to learn from the mistakes of others and become a safer pilot.
