😞
The Five Churches family is deeply saddened to announce that this will be the final weekend of operations for Five Churches Brewing.
The last 8 years have been a blessing, and also a great challenge. Many obstacles stood in our way since before we even opened our doors, but we are proud to say we confronted them head-on. We have poured our time, energy, and resources into rebuilding and reimagining the brewery. We believed deeply in what we were creating and were hopeful about the future. Unfortunately, the financial burden of rebuilding has reached a point where continuing operations is no longer viable. At the end of the day it was a decision that was made together as a family. We are ready to move on from this venture, and on to something new.
We want to thank you all for being part of this journey with us. We want to thank every single patron who ever tasted our beer, or stepped into our taproom for a visit. We want to thank every single person who worked here for 5C, you were not just part of a staff, but part of our family, and we will miss you. Thank you to every single brewery we collaborated with and company or person we partnered with…for your friendship and for believing in us and our product and trusting us to create something new together. We want to thank the city of New Britain for always supporting us and being there for us, whether it was to tackle a problem or to laugh over a beer. We also want to thank Connor, the man who has been with us from day one…starting as a bartender and advancing all the way to head brewer. Over the course of eight years together we battled COVID, boiler and equipment failures, cease and desists for our name and brand from an out of state company…and you believed in us and stuck with us through it all.
I also want to personally thank my family. This was my dream, and living it was a dream. I couldn’t have done it without every single person in my life believing, helping, working and pushing to create this together. They say “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.” Well that’s some bs, because I can’t write this without tears in my eyes and a sadness in my heart…however I do choose to believe that when one door closes, another one opens.
We will be open for our regular hours Thursday - Monday. Monday June 8th will be our last day. For the entire weekend please enjoy $5 pours of any beer. We hope you’ll come and say goodbye. Steeple People, you are welcome to take your mug home with you. We hope you’ll remember us, because we surely will remember all of you.
In the end, we learned that names can change and chapters can end. But the heart of this place was never in a logo, a sign, or a building. It lives in the memories, friendships, and community we created together.
Thank you again from the Five Churches family, we will miss you 🍻
