I've been performing marriages for many years and still have first time experiences. The latest was quite hysterical with a couple that surprised everyone at the end of the ceremony when we pulled out a ball and chain hidden under a table. Her brother attached the chain to the groom's ankle and handed his sister the ball - that's how they made their exit. I actually found it for them on etsy. This is their thank you email to me:

Good afternoon Richard,

Thank you so much for your kind words and congrats!! We are both beyond thrilled that we chose you to marry us!! You were the absolute best, from the day we met you til the bitter end!!! We would not have wanted anyone other than you to perform our ceremony!!! You were so great and so fun and such a pleasure to work with the entire time!!!! Thank you again so much for everything from both me and Shawn!!! We are so happy with how everything turned out....and yes, that ball and chain was a huge hit!!! So much fun!!! We all had a great time celebrating for the rest of the evening! Everything was just perfect!!!

We are so happy....and loved every moment!! Thank you again so much!!

A few days ago I had a terrific meeting with a great couple - it lasted almost 2 hours. The groom asked lots of good questions. The bride just seemed relieved that I wasn't weird. This is the amazing email they sent after we met - hope it makes you smile like it did to me:
"We enjoyed meeting you VERY MUCH!! We both truly thought we'd have to settle on having "some guy" perform the ceremony and just kind of get through it without having much meaning. I never knew we'd find someone who was so knowledgeable, kind, funny, and open minded that could guide us through building a ceremony that fit OUR personalities. I didn't expect to not only feel relief, but EXCITEMENT for our ceremony, when I had no expectations of it being special. I thought if you're not super religious, it's just a 30 minute block before the party. You completely changed that for me. Thank you so much for taking so much time to chat and get to know us!"

Corinne (with dad) and Stephen at the top of the mountain at the Red Tail Lodge in Vernon, NJ. Yes, the view is spectacular. I was here once before in early November. It was cold and windy that day so the gondola's weren't able to transport everyone to the mountain top and we were forced to be inside. I was so happy (and relieved) the weather cooperated for this couple because it was a magical place for a wedding ceremony.

I received some photos today from this couple I married in May at Valenzano Winery. If you can believe it, they are both named Jennifer so we had to resort to Jennifer Ann and Jennifer Lynn. And yes, the weather was incredible for their ceremony.
