Hey neighbors, I have an update on my last post about the Middle East shipping suspensions: The US Postal Service (USPS) has suspended ALL mailing services (letters, packages, everything) to several APO/FPO/DPO military ZIP codes in the region. This kicked in due to the same logistics challenges from the ongoing conflict that's affecting regular international mail.
This is a separate but related pause – it hits military post offices directly, even though country-level suspensions sometimes spare diplomatic/military channels. Here's a list of many of the affected ZIP codes (not exhaustive – things can change, so double-check the official USPS alerts):
• 09303 (e.g., Manama BAO, Bahrain area), 09305 (e.g., BDSC MPO), 09306 (e.g., Camp Arifjan), 09307 (e.g., Muharraq MCA), 09309 (e.g., Al Udeid AB, Qatar), 09315 (e.g., Joint Training Center), 09316 (e.g., Erbil AB), 09330, 09343, 09357, 09365, 09366, 09801, 09803, 09807, 09811, 09815, 09819, 09829, 09832, 09835, 09853, 09855, 09858, 09877, 09898, 09903, 09904
(These tie to key bases in Bahrain, Qatar, UAE, Iraq, and similar spots.)
FedEx, UPS, and DHL are still showing delays or limits in the area, but nothing new blanket-style for military addresses beyond this.
I get it – if you're prepping a care package for someone serving or just trying to send a letter to let them know you're thinking of them, this news can feel heavy. No one wants to add uncertainty on top of everything else.
