N30401 - Boeing 737-924(WL) - United Airlines - KMSY - 6-6-2026

Another 737 to share, this time the oldest currently active 739! This wasn't expected as I originally was going to spot American's TWA Hertiage tail earlier in the morning. Although those shots didn't turn out like I wanted, I'm happy that these did! This one is also noteworthy as being the 5th one built, as shown on the production list.

Delivered new to Continental in May of 2001, making it 25 years old at the time of this photo!

N35407 - Boeing 737-924(WL) - United Airlines - KMSY - 6-1-2026

I am probably one of the few people who genuinely get excited by things like this. With Alaska having retired theirs, United is the sole 737-900 operator in the US. With how few of the type were made before the -900ER became the main variant of the -900 model, it was already a very rare airplane. This one in particular was delivered new to Continental in September of 2001 and currently sits at 24 years old at the time of this shot!

United currently has 12 of these in their fleet, and I was lucky enough to capture two of them this day!

N251AK - Boeing 737-990ER(WL) - Alaska Airlines - KMSY - 6-1-2026

Departing in the early morning light for Seattle. It has been some time since I've spotted an Alaska Airlines aircraft, and this is the first time with my new lens! Delivered in 2016 to the airline, making it 10 years old this month!

N98880 - Boeing 737-924ER(WL) - United Airlines - KMSY - 6-1-2026

New airport new spotting! Having finally found the time to make the short trek to MSY, I was pleasantly surprised to find this location on the garage very usable with my lens!

Departing in the early morning sunlight as the clouds parted briefly gave some great sunrise lighting on this currently 11 y/o United B739ER. The background I feel really gives a lot of depth to this shot, and it's 100% my favourite from the day. I'm extremely excited to share more select shots as I edit them!

N246NN - Embraer ERJ-175LR (ERJ-170-200 LR) - American Eagle (Envoy Air) - KBTR - 5-28-2026

Climbing out of 22R for an early afternoon departure. Delivered to Envoy Air December 2016, making it nearly 10 years old at the time of the photo. I don't think I'll ever get tired of seeing these no matter where I go!

A familiar face rocketing out of 22L! I've said it before and I'll say it again, worn RJs are my absolute favourite to spot. It's always a wonderful sight to see an airplane actually look used once in a while as a spotter.

Delivered new to ExpressJet for Continental Express in 2003 and arrived at CommuteAir (at the time known as CommutAir) for United Express in June 2017. Its entire life has been spent wearing the former blue and gold globe, and it's definitely time for a makeover. However I do still love seeing this very nostalgic (to me) scheme!

N890D - Bombardier CRJ-900LR (CL-600-2D24) - Dow Chemical Company - KBTR - 5-28-2026

I knew it wouldn't take long to catch the fleet-mate! Departing in the afternoon to Lake Charles under this time relatively clear skies for once since moving here! Just like sister N892D, 890 is one of the youngest CRJs flying being just the 4th from last built before production ended. I particularly like the shot of the gear raising!

N743SE - Bombardier Challenger 3500 (BD-100-1A10) - Southern Industrial Contractors - KBTR - 5-25-2026

Arriving under some nasty looking skies just like every other aircraft this day. However this one is particularly nice with the lighting and contrast to the mean looking clouds behind the aircraft! Operating with callsign "FlightAware 1070", which I believe to be used for corporate flights operating for the company!

N115BZ - Embraer ERJ-190AR (ERJ-190-100 IGW) - Breeze Airways KBTR - 5-25-2026

Now this is becoming a rather rare sight with a US registration! Arriving from MSY operating on what I assume is a charter flight before departing roughly an hour or so later. Notice the awful clouds that made this spotting session difficult. I've noticed previous Moxy flights operating into BTR with the E190, so hopefully I'll be able to capture more of them before they're all inevitably gone!

This one is a former Air Canada aircraft, delivered as C-FLWK in 2007 to the airline before arriving at Breeze in 2021. In recent years both American in 2020 and JetBlue in 2025 retired their fleets of E190/E195s, making Breeze Airways the last operator of the type in the US to my knowledge!

N892D - Bombardier CRJ-900LR (CL-600-2D24) - Dow Chemical Company - KBTR - 5-25-2026

One I've been incredibly excited to capture! Having moved to BTR, I've been watching the FlightRadar24 board there trying to get an idea of what comes and goes. On there were two standouts in the form of N890D, and sister ship N892D seen here arriving under some nasty clouds. Interestingly this aircraft is the 3rd to last CRJ family aircraft built, making it one of the youngest in the air currently. Now I just need to capture the sister ship to complete the pair!

This livery in particular looks stunning on the CRJ-900, and I look forward to capturing it again in the future hopefully under nicer skies!
