Interesting! In 2024, 64,000 people relocated to Florida despite historic storms, higher housing costs and intense summer heat & humidity.
NOW, why are people leaving California, New York and Illinois? Since Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey, Maryland are smaller states, perhaps the percentage of residents leaving these states is even more eye-popping.
The influx to the Carolinas is no surprise. As for the Carolinas, I'm not surprised. Tge term "halfbacker" comes to mind. It describes people in the Northeast who dream of moving to Florida only to move "halfway" back from where they came when the reality of Florida weather sets in.
*FYI - these are NET numbers.
