Rural Road Safety Awareness Week 2026: The Rural Modes
July 13-17, 2026
In 2024, 36,297 people died in traffic crashes, with 39 percent (14,442) of those crashes occurring on rural roadways ( NHTSA, FARS, 2024)

Join the Center for Rural Road Safety as they take your favorite rural modes for an adventure to defeat their archnemeses: Death and Serious Injury. In this environment, road safety practices aim to support all modes of travel on rural roadways.

This year’s video game-inspired campaign encourages everyone to make every mile count toward achieving rural road safety. Here are the daily themes:
• Monday: Roadway Regulars
• Tuesday: Micro Movers
• Wednesday: Big Movers
• Thursday: Route Runners
• Friday: Uncommon Cruisers
Visit https://ruralsafetycenter.org/rural-road-safety-awareness-week-2026/ to learn more about this year’s theme and access tools to download, customize, and share to help spread the word!
