On October 5th, students enrolled in AS 254 (Aviation Law) competed in a fierce debate about Boeing's 737 Max accidents, which caused the deaths of 346 individuals.

Students were tasked with representing three parties: (1) families of the victims, (2) Boeing, and (3) the FAA.

Our counselors presented opening arguments, fierce counterarguments, examined witnesses, and defended their viewpoints.

In the process, they learned about debate techniques, FARs, federal law, and public speaking.

Congratulations to our participants and a huge thanks to Dr. Mitchell for his incredible coaching and support ✈

“Fly Day” started out as a small community event. It was a humble effort by countless professionals, pilots, and community stakeholders to get young kids excited about flight ✈️

Fly Day has evolved, thanks in no small part to organizations like the Davidson Initiative, who supported BASA students last weekend at KHWO's Fly Day 🛫

Our students are slowly but surely adding hours to their logbooks and building memories for a lifetime 😎

It's quite a humbling experience to watch a young student's face as he or she hops off the aircraft for the very first time!

Get out there and fly!

Palm Beach County Schools (Boynton Beach Community High School) and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) have partnered to create a unique curriculum option for students throughout the Palm Beach County School District. The Boynton Aerospace Science Academy (BASA) offers a rigorous academic program in the fields of Aviation, Aeronautical Science, Aviation Maintenance and Unmanned Systems (Drones). Each student will have the opportunity to earn dual credit, both for college and high school at the same time, when participating in the BASA courses at Boynton Beach Community High School. This exciting and innovative academy provides our students with the latest in educational advancements, current technologies and crucial job skills from ERAU professors at no cost to the student.
