I am heartbroken to learn about the attack today on Boulder’s Jewish community.

My heart goes out to the victims, their families, their loved ones, and all who have been and are being impacted by this act of violence.

I stand in solidarity with Boulder’s Jewish community, whose members face growing antisemitic hate and threats to their security.

No one should fear for their safety in our civilized society.

The Boulder I represent stands for peace, tolerance, and the fundamental right of all people to gather safely and to express their views without fear of violence.

Thank you to the first responders for swiftly handling such a dangerous situation and restoring our community to order.

As we await the full investigation, I call on our entire community to come together, to reject hate in all its forms, and to support our neighbors during this difficult time.

Two were airlifted to a burn unit with serious injuries. Officials said the attacker, who used a “makeshift flamethrower,” was in custody and had yelled, “Free Palestine,” according to witnesses.

My City of Boulder colleagues and I are hearing a lot from immigrant and LGBTQ+ community members seeking reassurance that their local government will continue to support them.

The answer is yes, without question.

City of Boulder departments will continue to serve anyone in need.

Our staff know the importance of creating trusting relationships and cultivating an environment that supports everyone.

Gender identity and immigration status are not factors when considering whether someone is eligible for our assistance.

Hate has no place here, and every person who lives, works, studies and visits our city has the right to live authentically as themselves, free from harassment, discrimination or exclusion.
