Rogerson Communities

Rogerson Communities More homes. More care. More dignity. Residential care programs in West Roxbury, Back Bay and Wrentham.

Rogerson Communities offers housing for low-income elders in the Boston neighborhoods of Jamaica Plain, Chinatown, Roxbury, Beacon Hill, West Roxbury and Roslindale. Rogerson also develops and managers moderate-income residences in Roslindale, South Weymouth, West Roxbury and Worcester. Adult day health and dementia day programs are offered in Roslindale and Roxbury with meals and transportation.

Rogerson's state-of-the-art strength training program, Rogerson Fitness First, is offered to residents and day program participants. Fitness First is a physician-approved, trainer-supervised program that utilizes specially-calibrated machines designed to target the specific muscle groups that can improve elders' ability to perform activities of daily living. Rogerson Communities works in partnership with other non-profits to maximize their assets and offer more to elders at all levels of need. Our real estate development expertise has allowed other non-profits such as Greater Boston Chinese Golden Age Center, Sophia Snow House, Forward, Inc./Council of Elders of Roxbury, Pond Home of Wrentham and Mount Pleasant Home to vastly improve their facilities and services for elders.

We are both grateful for the The Hamilton Company Charitable Foundation's support and encouraged by the commitment it signifies to caring for older adults in a time of unprecedented need.

This gift will bring the total amount of philanthropic support of the Rogerson House redevelopment project to over $2 million, more than three-quarters of which has been raised in 2026 alone.

The Hamilton Company Charitable Foundation is donating $600,000 to support the Rogerson House memory care and affordable housing project.

Our Adult Day Health program ensures older adults like Mumtaz, who spent her life caring for children, are cared for themselves.

As costs for other forms of care like assisted living continue to climb, adult day health programs often represent an alternative that provides many of the same benefits at a lower cost. According to the Massachusetts Adult Day Services Association (MADSA), the average annual cost to MassHealth for a full year of ADH is less than $19,000, compared to more than $72,000 for nursing home care—an annual savings to the state of some $53,000 per person. Ensuring that older adults remain healthy, active, and engaged this way while living independently is also far less expensive for the state than home health care, per MADSA.

Rogerson's Adult Day Health program cares for older adults like Mumtaz Budwani and gives them the opportunity to socialize in a safe setting.

Step into Eduardo's well-curated and tidy home and you'll be impressed by its aesthetics and his eye for detail. What might move you further is the story of how he found his way to apartment 4E.

"I’m telling you, it’s a gift of biblical proportions. If I live for the rest of my life in this very apartment, I will consider myself hugely blessed."

With his Rogerson apartment in Beacon Hill as his safe haven, Eduardo Pereira is inspired and determined to care for others.

A big thank you to Point32Health for sponsoring our summer barbecue last week. Around 80 people from the Adult Day Health program and Roslindale House came out for a beautiful summer Friday in the shady courtyard behind the building, enjoying the music, each other’s company, and plenty of cheeseburgers and hot dogs.

Extra thanks to the eight volunteers from Point32Health who helped out in the prep kitchen and behind the grill, and mingled with guests, making sure everyone was comfortable and well-fed. For at least one, the day had a personal connection—her grandmother, a regular ADH participant.

"She loves it,” said Jackie Coston, a Point32Health project manager. “Every morning she appreciates the van coming to pick her up. And we appreciate that she gets to come and socialize and to do activities with people in the community."

Darlene Boroviak's gift is a philanthropic catalyst for a tenfold expansion of our footprint and mission in southeastern Massachusetts.

We are fortunate to have leadership who not only recognize the urgency in our ambitious plans, but who also step up to ensure we're successful.

Rogerson received a quarter-million dollar gift from Darlene Boroviak for the organization's planned redevelopment project in Norton.

Rogerson today announced the award of a $665,000 grant from the Charles H. Farnsworth Trust in support of the redevelopment of its memory care community in Jamaica Plain.

“To have philanthropic partners who recognize this need as clearly as we do, and who step forward to help meet it, is inspiring,” President & CEO Walter Ramos said. “We are tremendously grateful to the Farnsworth Trust for their vision and their generosity.”

We have now raised $1.4 million in philanthropic giving for this important project.

Rogerson has been awarded over half a million dollars from the Charles H. Farnsworth Trust for its Rogerson House redevelopment project.

When you meet Steve Sailsman, he'll hand you a laminated card. It explains that he has aphasia — he can think and understand clearly, but sometimes has trouble finding words. It asks for patience.

Steve has lived in Boston his entire life. He's also experienced homelessness and spent years in housing that wasn't safe or sustainable. Today, he lives at Beacon House, where he exercises with his neighbors twice a week, gives haircuts down the hall, and is greeted by name everywhere he goes.

Rogerson resident Steve Sailsman of Beacon House has found more than just a home, he's found a community and compassion.
