2. The Mayflower wasn't the original ship the colonists set out on - their original ship, the Speedwell, began leaking on their journey from England, forcing them to turn around. When it was decided to then sail aboard the Mayflower, some people were left behind due to space constraints. ⚓

3. On top of being a federal holiday, November 11th has added historical significance in Plymouth - it's the day in 1620 when the Pilgrims arrived in New England and signed the Mayflower Compact. 🖋📝
