We always enjoyed hosting participants at the annual Special Olympics fundraiser held in the Boothbay region. In 2015 it was extra special when my father met Luis Tiant. We are glad that the Boston Globe thought a story so meaningful to our family was worthy of publishing. RIP Luis Tiant.

My father wasn’t a big sports fan, but he and I greatly enjoyed watching the 1975 World Series together. Dad especially appreciated "El Tiante." Many years later, Luis graciously spent time with us.
