Creek Right now Thur. 05/27/2014 Creek level 3.5 now and falling..... That should hold for the weekend [700CFS± great level with a little boat control] - Sat 76° and sunny ....... , Sunday 78° Sunny Great level for upper and lower AC [Scout Wagaman and Poffebbarger Bridges for Shifting Strainers; check! Keedysville Bridge; it has a nasty debris pile with about 8 feet of "get through" on River Right. River Left is dangerous. Also the C&O Aqueduct is totally blocked so that you can't get to the Potomac without climbing over the debris pile. If doing the lower check the Aqueduct if blocked take out above Harpers Ferry Rd or bush whack above the Aqueduct River right to the tow Path Dress right and check your gear; paddle with good paddlers who know the creek. LOose stuff will be shifting around for awhile so keep an eye out for debris and strainers. Be careful out there boating or not.

Note: Antietam creek flow [CFS] rises about 600CFS for each foot of creek level. Gradient is about 7 feet per mile avg. 3 feet on the Sharpsburg gauge is about 300CFS and is a nice class I-2ish canoeing level, at 4 feet the volume triples to 900cfs, fast for this creek and class I/II-ish. At 5ft it's 1500CFS solid class II with consequences for recreational boaters. At 7 feet [over bank ,flood] it's 2800CFS, same as the normal Gauley release and dangerous. Antietam can have walk around strainers and deadfall at any level.
Note: "Canoe Zero" Lower = 2.5 Volume about 150/170CFS, Upper 3.2 300+CFS, Kayak zero 2.3, Zero = a little bumpy; below zero = a lot bumpy .

Had some camping folks up this Thur. to paddle upstream above the Dam Mom Dad and 2 little kids.... neat trip for the novice paddlers Cows, Geese and gentle water even in the chill....
This weekend looks fantastic " Creek Right now Fri. 04/18/2014 = 3.2..... 60° today and warm around the corner: Saturday 65° ,Sunday about 67° Sunny both days. Great level for rec. boaters. Dress right and check your gear; paddle with good paddlers who know the creek. Water temp is normal cold for Antietam [ figure low 50s at best ] Be careful out there boating or not.

Spring Finally!!! This weekend Saturday April 12 looks like a perfect Paddling day on Antietam Creek. Water Level 3.6. Weather 68 with 30% chance of showers....Sunday Perfect &^ which is 76 degrees with the wrong button pushed....... Come on up. Give us a call if yopu need boats or shuttle....

Creek Right now Thur. 03/13/2014 = 3.45..... hi 30s° today WOW Spring?, and about 60s° Sat & 50s° Sun. 15th & 16th.. a probable 3.5+ level [500-600cfs] both days. Good level for rec. boaters. Dress right and check your gear; paddle with good paddlers who know the creek. Water temp is normal for Antietam [ figure low 40s this weekend] Be careful out there boating or not.

Creek Right now Fri. 03/7/2014 = 3.3..... hi 38° today, and about 53° and 46° Sunny on Sat & Sun... a probable 3.4+ to 3.8 level [600cfs] both days. Good level for rec. boaters. Dress right and check your gear; paddle with good paddlers who know the creek. Water temp is normal for Antietam [ figure Brrrrrrr.30s this weekend] Be careful out there boating or not.
