🚨 ALABAMA TRUCKING NEWS: 561 ICE ARRESTS + 1,022 ELP VIOLATIONS 🚨
Alabama officials say the state has intensified commercial vehicle enforcement through a partnership between ALEA’s Motor Carrier Safety Unit and ICE.
According to Governor Kay Ivey:
🚔 561 individuals were arrested by ICE following commercial vehicle enforcement activity since October 27, 2025
🗣️ 1,022 English Language Proficiency violations have been issued to commercial drivers since January 1, 2025
Alabama is also preparing for a new law taking effect October 1, 2026, called the Highway Safety and Fairness Act.
The law will:
✅ Require foreign CDL holders operating in Alabama to have valid U.S. work authorization
✅ Require CDL holders to demonstrate English-language proficiency
🚫 Make presenting a fraudulent foreign CDL during an enforcement encounter a criminal offense
Ivey also said Alabama has seen a 24% decrease in commercial vehicle crash fatalities so far in 2026 compared with the same period last year.
