Sea Turtle Nesting Season is almost here! 🐢💛 That means it’s time to show some extra love to our beaches. Please remember:

✨ Lights out at night – Bright lights can disorient nesting turtles and hatchlings. 🪣 Don’t leave items behind – Beach chairs, tents, and other gear can block turtles from safely nesting.

Cayo and North Captiva will be hotspots for activity this year, so let’s do our part to protect these amazing creatures! 💚

Great event for the community!

24th Annual Pine Island Fishing Tournament & Derby – New Date & Location!

Due to Hurricanes Helene and Milton, the Derby has been rescheduled for Sunday, May 18, 2025 at Jug Creek Marina.

We’re heartbroken by the loss of Captain Con’s and the Bokeelia Pier. Their logos will remain on this year’s shirts as a tribute to their lasting impact.

The Matlacha Hookers remain dedicated to supporting Pine Island Elementary. With over $220,000 raised, we’ve funded STEM labs, scholarships, and classroom needs—thanks to you!

Highlights:
• Kids’ Derby (free rod & reel, land-based fun!)
• C.P.R. Tournament (cash prizes for anglers!)
• Live music, food, raffles & more | 9 AM–3 PM

🚨 Boaters, Please Be Cautious! 🚨

Two manatees have been struck by boats in our local waters this past week. As we enjoy our beautiful waterways, let’s all do our part to protect these gentle giants.

⚠️ Reduce speed in manatee zones
⚠️ Stay alert in shallow waters and near seagrass beds
⚠️ Give them space—if you spot a manatee, idle and let them pass
⚠️ Look for signs like swirl patterns or snouts breaking the surface

Manatees are a vital part of our ecosystem, and their safety depends on all of us. Please spread the word and boat responsibly!
