Gary G’s Guitar Shop
The most important aspect of your guitar’s performance is not it’s pickups, or it’s locking tuners, or it’s treble bleed circuit--it’s the SETUP. I’ve been setting up guitars for 34 years and I will let you in on a little secret: The only way to really set up a guitar to play it’s very best is put in the TIME. Adjust it, play it, re-adjust it, play it. Keep the truss rod wrench in there, keep it plugged in; have the saddle files right there, file a little, play it some more. I see “techs” with their measuring gauges and their straight edges checking the string height and setting the intonation, making sure there’s no frets buzzing and so forth, then they put the guitar back in the case with a receipt. No amp in sight. No time at all spent playing the guitar other than maybe a quick string bend or two. You go in and pay and take the guitar home and your like “sh*t, this thing plays worse than it did when I brought it in!” Yup, happens every day. Not here. Sure I have all the tools, I do things correctly, I don't take shortcuts, but I will set up every guitar as if it's my own. If I'm not comfortable enough with a guitar to play it live onstage I'll keep working on it. You WILL notice the Gary G difference. I was trained by the best, and then spent 3 more decades learning my own tricks. I put the time in, and you will know.
We do great setups, awesome fretwork (John Bolin style-as I was taught by him) and other repairs, we have a lot of new and used parts, we are an authorized dealer for Allparts, WD Music and are working on getting some other distributors. We have tons of pickguards, used guitars and amps, necks galore, speakers, speaker cabs, etc.
Currently we are in the process up uploading hundreds of products into our online ebay and Reverb stores, if you don’t see what you need give us a call because we just might have it. We are appointment only right now. 208-703-7605
This spring we will be offering amplifier repair, too, just a heads up! I’ll be going to Michigan to learn from Bruce Egnater.
