Not every aircraft owner should be in the market right now.

Sometimes the right move is to wait, or to improve the aircraft already in service, or to revisit the conversation next year.

The aviation industry has a structural bias toward activity. An advisor worth trusting has to be willing to work against that. To tell an owner the market isn't right, the timing is off, or that the aircraft they have still fits the mission better than anything currently available.

Aircraft approaching a major engine overhaul are sitting on the market significantly longer than aircraft mid-cycle.

Not because they're priced wrong. Buyers are adjusting their offers to account for the upcoming costs.

This is one of the variables that doesn't show up in a segment-level market report. It shows up in the transaction data when you look at days on market by maintenance status. That's the level of specificity that changes how an aircraft gets positioned before it ever hits the market.

Most aircraft brokerages ae built around one person's read on the market, one set of relationships with buyers, and one perspective on how to structure the transaction.

That model is efficient but it is also has a single point of failure for a multimillion-dollar decision.

At 5x5, you work with one principal as your primary contact. Behind that contact are four people reviewing your transaction daily. Different angles on the same deal, tested against each other before any recommendation reaches you.

One relationship. Four accountable perspectives.

The most consequential decisions in an aircraft transaction happen before the aircraft ever hits the market.

Ownership structure. Pre-sale maintenance planning. Positioning strategy relative to what qualified buyers are actually filtering for. Market timing relative to what's moving in your specific segment right now.

By the time an aircraft is publicly listed, the advisors who started early have already done the work that most brokers never do at all. The outcome is largely determined before the first buyer conversation.

"Our U.S. pipeline is the strongest we've seen since 2021, but it's a more discerning market. Buyers want pedigree, programs, and operationally ready aircraft. With 100% expensing back, year-end is shaping up to be busy, especially in super-mid and large cabins. Sellers with turnkey, market-ready aircraft stand to benefit the most."

A question we get from owners more often than you'd expect: "My broker says this is a fair offer. How do I know if that's true?"

The honest answer is that in most transactions, you don't unless the person advising you has current comparable data and no structural incentive to close fast. That's the conflict at the center of single-broker representation. Commission speed and deal quality are not always aligned, and most owners have no way to tell the difference from the outside.

Four principals reviewing the same transaction changes that dynamic. Not because more opinions are always better, but because the right structure surfaces the questions that a single motivated closer tends not to ask.

One of aviation's biggest challenges is that expertise and confidence often sound exactly the same.

The industry has very few meaningful barriers to entry, which means owners are often left trying to distinguish genuine expertise from polished salesmanship.

That's one reason standards matter. Not because credentials replace judgment, but because they provide evidence. Fewer than 65 brokerages worldwide hold IADA accreditation. It exists precisely because this market needs a verifiable standard.

A multimillion-dollar aircraft transaction deserves the same level of diligence you'd expect from your attorney, wealth manager, or M&A advisor.

Every morning, four principals sit down on every active deal.

Not to check in. Not to update a status report. To pressure-test it.

That's the standard we hold with every transaction.
