Congratulations to the latest graduating class of North American Flight Control FAA Aircraft Dispatcher Students! 👩‍🎓🛫

From walking in on day, regardless of experience level or background and walking away as one of the United States newest certificated aircraft dispatchers! That’s quite a journey that involved a lot of dedication, focus and hard work! 📚🗺️

Along the journey, from networking with classmates to meeting industry professionals and learning the significance of weather comprehension, flight planning, strong communication skills and how to use aeronautical decision making, these graduates are armed with the knowledge to enter the workforce, preparer for the challenges of the future!

The latest class of North American Flight Control dispatch students had the opportunity to visit the National Weather Service office!

While Flight Dispatchers are not meteorologists, it is important to understand the weather tools they’re using so a correct assessment of the weather can be completed, allowing the dispatcher to have a more comprehensive plan for each flight! 🤔🗺️

From weather radar, to Terminal Aerodrome forecasts to winds aloft data, including jet streams and temps aloft, play a critical role in how each flight plan is constructed by a FAA Certificated aircraft Dispatcher. ☀️⛈️🌪️❄️

Text books are important but nothing beats real world experience. The latest FAA Aircraft Dispatch class at NAFC had the opportunity to visit the National Weather Service office in the Twin Cities. Students had the opportunity to meet weather forecasters who are creating various aviation weather forecasting products that aircraft dispatchers use. From terminal area forecast creation to understanding the threats caused by thunderstorms and icing conditions, it was insightful!
To end our visit we had the opportunity to observe a weather balloon launch. Rain or shine, snow or wind, weather balloons are important as the data they send back helps us understand what the atmosphere is doing and what may happen next with weather. A special thank you to the NWS with their generosity with time for us! 🌦️🛫.

Quick turn day at North American Flight Control 🛫

We graduated our latest class of FAA Aircraft Dispatchers yesterday and today we start day 1 of aircraft dispatcher refresher training! 📚👩‍🎓

Refresher training is a great opportunity to get immersed in the basics again, regardless if you’re looking to get back into the field or trying to sharpen your knowledge for an upcoming job opportunity, our goal is that you’ll walk away better prepared to tackle the challenges that we see across aviation operations and flight dispatch/flight following.🌎💻🗺️

As we look back at 2025, we are thankful for our opportunity to help our customers and business partners and those friendships that grow from working together.

We are also thankful for the communities that support us, whether around Minnesota or the aviation community.

In 2025 we’ve given away 14 different dispatcher scholarships, totalling over $55,000 and we look forward to 2026 and continuing to support the growth in the Flight Dispatch Community!
