April and I are ending a 10 day vacation, we have to go back to work tomorrow (8/24/26). But this weekend we decide to go to Osceola and tent camp Friday and Saturday night, to spend some time with my family. Saturday evening we all sat around the campsite and played some games and started a fire to have s’mores. It was nice to have my mom, dad, sister, niece, April and I all together for the evening.

Tallest Cross in North American standing at 22 stories tall. Read all about it from the pictures. We’ve always drive past the Cross but have never stopped, until this year as we were heading to Branson, Missouri for our vacation.

We took a Sunday cruise in our Buick. Today we’re staying close to home and came out to Lake Wapello State Park.

We were diverted off our main way home, but glad it was. New route put us going through the Amana Colonies, we stopped at the local Casey’s General Store. The building and canopy is quite the sight to see. I Found out the property is owned by the Amana Colonies and Casey’s General Store Rents it from them.

The Dowling House stands as the oldest building in Galena, Illinois, with its construction dating back to 1826. Built of limestone, it originally served as the only trading post in the young town. The house is now a historic house museum, offering guided tours that provide an intimate look at Galena's early lead-mining era. Visitors can explore original fireplaces, period furnishings, and artifacts that tell the story of Galena's pioneer days. The tours are available from May to October, and the building is recognized as a contributing property to the Galena Historic District.
