Today, my heart is broken.
Dr Ketia Shumaker was more than a friend to me. She was my best friend, my sister, and truly everything to me in this world. Without her, my business, Mo’s Carriages and Trail Rides, would not function the way it does. She supported me in ways that words can hardly express. From making sure things ran smoothly to taking me to and from the airport whenever I traveled home to Ghana, my country of birth, she was always there . I have experienced losses before. I have attended funerals. I have lost loved ones. But this loss hits the hardest.
Ketia was a remarkable woman, brilliant in her work, dedicated, kind, and selfless. She gave so much of herself to others, including her students and colleagues at the university Of Alabama Birmingham.. Her presence made an impact in ways many may never fully know.
Though I am deeply hurt, I hold onto my faith. God’s ways are not our ways, and His will is greater than our understanding. In all things, I give thanks and praise to Him.
Ketia, myself and the girls will miss you more than words can say. I know you are in heaven, looking back at us with peace.
Rest well, my dear Sister. Until we meet again.
Her funeral service is on the 28th of February 2026 at the Ellison funeral home in Clanton Alabama.
At 2 PM.
To God Almighty Be The Glory And Honor
