In 2010, a railcar project became personal.

While working with a long‑time customer, a cancer diagnosis close to home sparked an idea to use those railcars to raise awareness. Blue and pink gondolas began moving across the rail network, carrying a message much bigger than freight.

A donation was made and most importantly, the cancer battle was won.
As we look back on 25 years, this is one of those unplanned moments we’re proud to call part of our story.

By offering fast answers, practical railcar expertise, and taking the time to truly listen to our customers, we were able to help smaller shippers who are often overlooked by larger leasing companies.

Celebrating a small win 6 years in the making 🙌

In 2020, we customized a group of railcars for a customer whose unloading system required different gates. That meant removing the original gates and replacing them. Most companies would have scrapped the old gates immediately.
And honestly, we thought about it.

But knowing their value, we decided to hold onto them for a rainy day.

This year, several of our leased cars returned with bent gates, leaving the next lessee unable to put them into service. That’s when we remembered the gates we’d saved. A perfect match and we avoided the cost and wait time of new parts.
