The bridge collapse across the Skagit River between Burlington and Mount Vernon is going to be a real hardship for everyone in the region from locals who live and work on opposite sides of the river as well as Bellingham residents who commute to Boeing and Microsoft in Seattle. If there is any good news it is that no lives were lost. The bridge was apparently stuck by a Canadian truck driver hauling a heavy and wide load with a spotting truck. There is no word yet on what was being hauled.
Many people may not know where the Skagit river is but they do know about the annual Skagit Valley Tulip Festival that draws more than a million visitors per year to the growing fields around the river.

The Haunted Double-Decker Bus is a landmark in Fairhaven down the street from the Alaska Ferry Terminial. People hear ghosts upstairs walking around and scaring people. The bus has been converted into a Fish-In-Chips restaurant--a very small one. I imagine the Ghosts are probably English and sick to death of the smell of fish cooking in hot oil, all day every day.

When in Bellingham having fish n chips at the Bus is something you just gotta do. http://bellinghamster.com/f.htm
