Students rent small sailboats and paddlecraft for up to 2 hours each visit for FREE! Lakewood has been having a blast teaching sailing lessons this quarter. The is intended for students visiting Lakewood for the first time. No prior paddling experience necessary. Sign up with a friend or come make new ones!

Program Description:
Enjoy a multifaceted afternoon hanging out at Lakewood! The experience starts with a 20 min vanpool ride from campus with the instructor. You and up to 8 other students will then arrive at Lakewood and enjoy a quick orientation to the space and boat rental program. Next the group will receive instruction on how to use our free to access (and user friendly) paddlecraft and go for an optional 30min guided on-the-water experience. Upon returning to shore students will be treated to a warm and cozy lounge with cracking fire and access to various crafting activities. Nature art can also be crafted using materials gathered around Lakewood.

Registration: Limited availability - first nine (9) students to RSVP as ‘I will be attending’ via WIN. If you no longer can make it please change your RSVP status to open the spot for someone else!

Spring is here - which means it's almost time to get back out on the water! Lakewood reopens for Spring Quarter on April 1st.

Our Spring Quarter hours:
Mon/Wed/Fri: 2:00pm - 7:30pm
Sat/Sun: noon-7:30pm
Tues/Thurs: Closed

Learn to sail at Lakewood this spring!

Registration for Sailing Basics is live now! Learn the ropes of small boat sailing with this introductory series of four lessons. Students will be taught on our beginner friendly fleet of RS Quests (pictured above) and will learn the skills needed to take these boats out on their own!

Lessons are offered Tues/Thurs 4:30-7:30pm and Sat/Sun 11:30am-2:30pm.

Need a ride out to Lakewood? A shuttle will be available leaving from the Viking Union.

Sign up via the link in our bio - early April lessons are offered at a discounted rate! Additionally, a limited number of fee waivers are available upon request.

L A K  E    D A  Y   is April 4, 12-6pm ☀️ All students are welcome to join us for this free event, especially those that are looking to experience Lakewood for the first time! A complimentary shuttle will leave from outside the Outdoor Center every 1/2 hour during the event (see info below). Bring your friends, because there will be a bunch of FREE activities to take part in, on and off the water:  ⛵️ Guided sailboat rides, 🛶 30’ canoe rides, 🚣‍♀️ Intro to paddling orientations, 🚣 Free boat rentals, Lawn games, Arts & crafts, Board games, yoga, & Free Leaf & Ladle wraps/sandwiches for the first 100 students!

Transportation options: 
Shuttles will depart from Lot 6V outside the Outdoor Center on the bottom floor of the Viking Union (on Garden St) every half hour between 11:30a and 4:30p. Return shuttles will leave Lakewood on the 1/2 hour and on demand after 4:30p. Limited seats available. The shuttles are intended for students that do not have access to personal transportation. If the shuttles fill, students will be directed to take WTA line 512 to Lakewood. More info in the link in our bio.

✨Looking back on some memories from 2025✨

It was a great year down at the lake! We were stoked to have over 3000 students join us in 2025, and collectively more than 11,000 hours were spent paddling and sailing at the lake. Lakewood is special because of our community, and we are looking forward to getting back on the water with you all!
