Good afternoon, HL2 Property Owners with Boat Ramp User Access. Now that we are heading into October we are providing access to the ramp for active Vault app users. Your access to the lock will expire on 11/17/2024. Thank you. Brad. P.S. Remember that it is your duty as a property owner to insure our boat ramp is used properly and only by HL2 property owners in good standing.

Title: The Cautionary Tale of Willow Lake

Once upon a time, in a picturesque private lake community called Willow Lake, the residents decided to forgo more resilient security measures at their boat ramp. They believed in open access for everyone, trusting that their idyllic surroundings would remain untouched by outside influences. Unfortunately, their well-meaning decision led to unforeseen consequences that changed their community forever.

The Beginning of the End
At first, the relaxed access policy seemed to work well. Residents and their guests enjoyed the convenience of using the boat ramp without any restrictions. However, it wasn't long before the first signs of trouble appeared.

Unwelcome Visitors
Without stringent checks, unwelcome boats began to appear on Willow Lake. These boats often brought strangers who had no respect for the community’s rules. Late-night parties, loud music, and littering became common occurrences. The once peaceful and serene environment was disrupted, and residents started feeling unsafe in their own neighborhood.

Rise in Crime
As word spread about the lax security, Willow Lake became a target for petty criminals. Cars were broken into, and there were several instances of vandalism. The sense of security that had once been the hallmark of Willow Lake was rapidly eroding. Families no longer felt comfortable letting their children play near the lake unsupervised, and the community spirit began to dwindle.

The Invasion of Invasive Species
The most devastating blow came in the form of invasive aquatic species. Boats from other lakes, unchecked and uncleaned, introduced invasive plants and animals into Willow Lake. These species spread quickly, choking out native plants and disrupting the local ecosystem. Fishing, once a favorite pastime, became nearly impossible as fish populations dwindled.

The Long Downward Spiral
The water quality deteriorated, and unpleasant odors began to emanate from the lake. Property values plummeted as the once-beautiful lake became an eyesore. The cost of removing invasive species and restoring the lake’s health skyrocketed, draining community funds and leading to heated arguments among residents.

The Wake-Up Call
It took years and significant financial and emotional strain to begin reversing the damage. The residents of Willow Lake learned a hard lesson: the importance of balancing access with security. They implemented a new, stricter access policy, ensuring that every boat entering the lake was clean and that only residents and verified guests could use the facilities.
A New Beginning
Slowly, Willow Lake began to recover. The community came together, stronger and more united than before. They realized that maintaining a secure and safe environment was crucial for preserving the beauty and tranquility of their home.

Moral of the Story:

Dear HL2 Community,
Let’s learn from the tale of Willow Lake. While ease of access is important, safeguarding our lake and community is paramount. Let’s work together to ensure that our boat ramp access scheduling system remains effective, protecting our waters, our investments, and our peace of mind.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Best regards,

HL2 Boat Ramp Administrator

Attention everyone: A storm with 80 mph winds is heading our way, similar to what Lincoln just experienced. If you're out on the lake, especially with kids tubing, please head in and secure anything loose around your lakefront. Stay safe!

HL2 LAKE SAFETY AND SECURITY MATTER!
Remember the old days (the past 60+ years) when gaining access to the boat ramp meant asking around to use another property owner’s personal boat ramp or, even more recently, making countless phone calls to board members for access and waiting for them to show up? It wasn’t convenient at all… for anyone. That’s why I was asked to create and implement a new boat ramp access system. It’s the B.R.A.S. system.
As your HL2 Boat Ramp Administrator, I want to emphasize that security is our top priority when it comes to our community boat ramp and our lake waters. While some might prefer zero access limitations, maintaining a secure environment is essential for several reasons:
1. Member-Only Access: Ensuring easy access for members while keeping guest boats and intruders off our waters.
2. Invasive Species Prevention: Providing a safeguard to ensure no boats with invasive species are launched without proper decontamination.

These measures protect our lake community, our waters, and our investments. Use the online form to schedule your boat ramp access. Simply review the information and provide the date you expect to use it, and I will extend your access a few days longer—because with boats, we understand that plans can change!

Remember, I’m here to help 14 hours a day, every single day, and I do this on a volunteer basis (I still have a real job). Planning ahead helps us maintain a smooth operation and ensures the safety of our lake for everyone.

Consider what could happen to your family’s lake property investment if invasive species were allowed to spread in our lake. It’s a serious risk that we must all work to prevent together. We don’t get a do over.

If you have suggestions, feel free to pass them on to me. However, please understand that reducing our security measures for the sake of convenience is not a viable option. Our goal is to provide both ease of access and robust security.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Best regards,
Brad Heath

If you are going to need to use the HL2 boat ramp, don't forget to get signed up in advance. Operators are not standing by waiting for last minute requests. ;)

Due to the Missouri River and heavy rains being at an elevated level I have extended access for all active B.R.A.S. system users through at least July 7. This extension will provide an opportunity for everyone to safely remove and re-launch their watercraft during this period. The new B.R.A.S. system makes this super easy to do in situations like this :) This map is the sensor for our community on the Platte River. River level is dropping fast and HL2 will follow... slowly.

Recent HL2 Boat Ramp Activity... B.R.A.S. system is working very smooooooothly. I have not had to go to the boat ramp a single time to help someone gain access. I've done it from home, work, our boat, on the beach, and traveling. This is nice!😎
