Hub Group just bought Marten Transport’s temperature‑controlled intermodal division for about $52 million cash. The deal includes Marten’s refrigerated 53‑foot containers, related chassis, and customer contracts.

Fleet impact: Hub Group’s own reefer‑box pool more than doubles to ≈ 2,100 domestic containers, making Hub the #2 cold‑chain intermodal player in North America (behind J.B. Hunt).

Why they did it: scale. A bigger box pool lets Hub offer coast‑to‑coast temperature‑controlled capacity (including cross‑border) and densify rail lanes where empty re‑positioning was expensive. 🔥

Weekend hustle

8 of our trucks were broken into this morning around 3:00 AM.

One had a window broken, and one unit had wiring cut while thieves tried (and failed) to fish out a CPC module, thanks to the preventative work we did last year relocating and securing those modules beneath the tractors.

Despite the damage, time wasted, and police reports, we were only late on two moves. Why? Because we stay ready.

Our yard is gated, with cameras, and we pay monthly into a co-op security service from 10PM–5AM. But last night, the gate was left open, and no guard was on duty. We’ll be seeking reimbursement from the landlord.

All in all, the thieves got nothing from us but practice. I hope they all went home, stubbed their toes, and stepped on a pile of LEGOs
