Finally able to start the first section of the layout. The Packing Plant has always been a favorite of mine. So this will be a focal point entering the room. The stock yard now sits a behind the plant with track. A road will be off the layout leading to the entrance of the local sand and gravel company who accepts a gondola with product weekly.
Lots of work to do on these scenes but it's a start.

It's been a while since I've been able to get back to rebuilding the layout. It took some time but finally got the 2 inches of foam down. Next up is to try and come up with a new track plan. I do this by the seat of my pants. No sketches or computer generated layouts. We'll see where it goes.

More progress on the FosScale kit "Casselman". The structure is built and the ground cover applied. Once it dries the details can be added.

I've been away from modeling for a while recovering from heart surgery. Time to get back on the bench and ease back into the models. It certainly is therapeutic.
Starting with an old KOTM I had laying around. I hope to work on the layout next week.

Work has been slow on the SJPR rebuild. The bench work is completed. I started spitting some structures to see where turnouts might be needed. Hope to post some updates this weekend.

Finished the bench work for the new SJPR. The main plan was to eliminate the duck under or lift out section from the around the walls plan. This layout gives me more room and allows for 2 people to operate. Still need to finalize the plan but basic shape is done. I'm not a pen to paper giy. I just do things as the ideas come to me.

Bench work for the first loop is installed. Smalll access area is about 18 inches wide. I can reach the entire corner easily for there.

Back at work on the SJPR. What started as a mild change turned into a complete rebuild with a new track plan. From around the room with a lift out to a folded dog bone with a peninsula (hopefully). I've learned a lot from the first layout. Hopefully this one lives up to my own hype! Stay tuned!

My intent was to make a few minor changes to the layout. However, once I got started it was all in. I've learned a lot on making this layout. What works, what doesn't and how to make my scenery look better. SJPR v2 will be here soon. Stay tuned.
