🐴 NOW ENROLLING: HOMESCHOOL FARM & HORSE PROGRAM 🐴

Looking for a meaningful, hands-on homeschool class that builds confidence, responsibility, and real-life skills?

Our new weekly homeschool program at the horse farm gives students the chance to learn horse care and farm life in a safe, structured, and engaging environment.

✅ What makes this program different:
• Real horses, real barn, real responsibility
• Small class sizes for personal instruction
• Year-round curriculum with worksheets & projects
• Hands-on learning (not just watching)
• Focus on safety, animal care, and character

📚 Students will learn:
• Horse behavior & body language
• Grooming, feeding, and daily care
• Barn chores & farm routines
• Seasonal horse care
• Respect, leadership, and teamwork

🕒 Program Details:
• Meets once per week (≈1 hour)
• Designed specifically for homeschool students
• No riding required
• All experience levels welcome
7 years old and up! We will have several staff members helping with this class. If there is enough interest in younger ages then we will create a homeschool class just for them!

We will be having an Open House January 23rd from 3:00 to 5:00. You can meet the teacher, see our lesson plans and get a tour of our beautiful facility.

🌟MEET OUR HOMESCHOOL TEACHER! 🌟

My name is Sarah Criss, and I am delighted to welcome your family to Homeschool on the Farm at Serenity Equine Facility. It is truly a joy to have the opportunity to teach your children and introduce them to the basics of horses and life on a working farm.

My passion for horses, combined with my deep love for children and education, has made me incredibly excited for this upcoming class. As a homeschool mother myself, I understand how important it is to know and trust the people who help educate your children. With that in mind, I’d love to share a little about my background, experience, and heart for teaching.

My husband and I homeschool our three children and have been doing so for over four years. We strongly believe homeschooling is a team effort, and we work closely together to provide a well-rounded, meaningful education for our kids. We are actively involved in our local homeschool community, including a homeschool co-op where I have had the privilege of teaching classes ranging from Bible games to classic literature.

Currently, I teach a homeschool class called “Horse Sense,” where students learn about basic tack, horse anatomy, breeds, and the many roles horses play in our world. Lessons are taught through hands-on activities, games, worksheets, crafts, and interactive learning—because children learn best when they are engaged and having fun.

My love for horses began at a young age. When I was thirteen, my parents bought me my first horse—a little mare who may not have seemed special to others, but who became my constant companion and best friend for the next seventeen years. That relationship shaped my respect for horses and the powerful bond they can form with people.

Professionally, I worked for five years as an assistant therapeutic riding instructor in Southern California. In this role, horses were used to support children and adults with special needs, helping them develop physical strength, emotional awareness, social skills, and confidence. I witnessed firsthand the incredible impact horses can have—creating growth, healing, and friendships that might never have existed otherwise.

I also bring a strong educational background to my teaching. I hold a college degree in Children’s Ministry and have worked as a preschool teacher, children’s pastor, math teacher, and substitute teacher. There is nothing quite like seeing the moment when a child truly understands something for the first time—the spark of confidence and curiosity that ignites when they discover a new passion. Being part of that moment is priceless to me.

I am truly looking forward to meeting your children and learning alongside them. My goal is not only to teach practical skills like feeding and caring for horses, but also to cultivate respect, responsibility, and a lifelong appreciation for these incredible animals and the farm environment.

Thank you for trusting me with a small but meaningful part of your child’s education. I can’t wait to begin this journey together.
