Thanks to our dedicated Transportation Security Administration - TSA partners security wait times at the Baton Rouge Metro Airport remain normal and unaffected by the partial government shutdown impacting some larger airports.

If you’re checking bags, we still recommend arriving about 90 minutes before departure. That gives you plenty of time to park, check your luggage, breeze through security, and start your trip stress‑free.

🛫 Baton Rouge Metro Airport Food Drive: Supporting Our Federal Transportation Security Administration - TSA partners.

These essential federal employees are working without pay to serve the traveling public with unwavering commitment despite the current partial government shutdown.

For those in our community who would like to show their support, we are accepting non-perishable food items, along with gas station, and grocery store gift cards to support these hardworking professionals and their families. TSA employees cannot accept cash or prepaid bank cards.

📅 Collections began Friday, March 13, and will continue as long as support is needed.

• 2nd Floor of the Airport Terminal

🚨 Training Exercise at BTR This Saturday 🚨

The Baton Rouge Metro Airport will conduct its tri‑annual disaster simulation exercise this Saturday, March 7, 2026. This full‑scale drill is part of our ongoing commitment to emergency preparedness, passenger safety, and strong coordination with our regional partners.

The exercise will be led by the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport Police/ARFF Department with support from local fire, law enforcement, EMS, hospital emergency departments, and emergency preparedness agencies.

Residents may notice:
- Emergency vehicles on and around airport property
- Simulated emergency activity
- First responders participating in coordinated training

This is only a training exercise. There is no threat to the public, and airport operations will continue as normal with no impact to travelers.
