But enough that commercial energy buyers should be paying attention.

Just finished writing an article for the International Association of Pickleball and Padel Facilities on something most club owners deal with every day…

The hidden operating costs inside indoor racquet sports facilities.

We covered:
🎾 Lighting performance
💡 Energy costs & Demand & Capacity Charges
🏟️ Facility controls & automation
📈 Long-term operational planning

The best facilities don’t just look good on opening day — they operate well for years.

Power Moves Weekly Buy Opportunities — 02.24.2026

A lot of businesses don’t realize they can shop and buy energy from a third-party supplier.

If you’re not pricing it, you’re almost always paying whatever shows up on the default bill.

Electricity highlight: NY — National Grid (Formerly Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation) D (North) SC2-D (43.2% vs utility PTC)
Natural Gas highlight: NJ — PSEG (58.2% vs utility PTC)

⏳ Discount ends Feb 20 — register now!

If you’ve been thinking about attending the IAPPF Conference at RacquetX in Florida (March 13–15), don’t wait — you can get $100 off with code IAPPFmember, but the offer expires Feb 20.

I’m also honored to be a panelist on “Cost Controls” for facilities, and I’m looking forward to connecting with owners, operators, and everyone building in the pickleball + padel space.

If you’re going, comment below — would love to say hi in Florida!

Outdoor courts deserve pro-level lighting.
Not parking-lot lighting. Not flood lights. 🏓💡

Here’s the hard truth: flood lights and “generic area lights” don’t do the trick for court-style visibility. They often increase glare and hurt uniformity—creating hotspots, dark corners, and inconsistent ball tracking.

What actually matters:
✅ Uniformity (consistent light across the whole playing surface)
✅ Glare control (comfortable eyes = better play)
✅ Precise optic control (light on the court, not everywhere else)

If you want a quick way to spot a bad layout, comment “COURT” and I’ll send a short checklist.

🚨 New Newsletter Is Live: AI-Enhanced Energy, Lighting + HVAC Strategies For High-Performance Facilities

Most buildings don’t have an “energy problem.”
They have a runtime problem — systems running longer than they need to.

Early starts, late shutdowns, weekend creep, and overrides that never get reset can quietly drive up:
✅ Energy bills (kWh + peak demand)
✅ Maintenance workload (more run-hours = more wear and service events)

In this new newsletter from Energywise Solutions, we break down:
• Practical AI-driven strategies to reduce unnecessary runtime (without sacrificing comfort)
• What those reductions mean in real dollars at different electricity rates
• Example savings scenarios for restaurants, indoor sports facilities, and hotels
• Why runtime reduction can also extend equipment life

Want a copy or want to talk through your facility? Check out the newsletter at the link below:

How smarter runtime decisions cut energy costs and reduce maintenance workload. Performance Impacts Energy Costs Energy savings are one of the cleanest ways to improve operating budgets—if they’re approached the right way.

Indoor pickleball + padel facilities: stop paying to light and cool empty courts. 💡❄️

Most clubs run their lights and HVAC longer than they need to—because it’s easier to leave everything on than manage switches, schedules, and busy/slow hours.

That’s where ceiling occupancy sensors come in.

These smart sensors detect when people are in a space and automatically control:

✅ Court lighting (on/off or dimming by zone)

✅ HVAC (conditioning and ventilation when players are actually there)

✅ Restrooms, hallways, storage, offices (no more “who left the lights on?”)

Why it matters for indoor courts: 🎾

• Better player experience (bright, consistent lighting during play)
• Lower electric bills (less wasted runtime)
• Less maintenance (fixtures and HVAC components last longer)
• Safer facility (automatic lighting in key areas)

Quick rule of thumb:

Courts + high ceilings = sensors designed for larger spaces and varied movement
Restrooms + storage = sensors that “see” around obstructions

If you’re building a new facility—or upgrading an existing one—Energywise Solutions can help design the right sensor + lighting control plan so you save energy without sacrificing the on-court experience.

Comment “SENSORS” and we’ll send a simple checklist for what to install where. 👇
