UP #4014 Visit To Steamtown
Genesee Valley Transportation Co., Inc. and “the” Delaware-Lackawanna Railroad Co. Inc. are proud to host the UP Big Boy #4014 on it’s route to Philadelphia by way of the Norfolk Southern and the Steamtown National Historic Site in Scranton PA.
As many of you know, the 4014 will be traversing the tracks of the Delaware-Lackawanna railroad Sunday June 14th as it enters the Steamtown National Historic Site for display. We are aware of the historical significance of this move and the likelihood that many people will wish to follow, photograph or just experience this one-time event.
In the interest of safety, and in an effort to provide an excellent overall experience, the employees and management of the Delaware-Lackawanna Railroad would like to remind everyone that there is a “0 tolerance” policy for trespassing on railroad property at all times, and especially during this event. It is extremely important that spectators do not interfere with the movement of any locomotives, the train, or general railroad operations. Railroad property is at all time off limits, unless specifically instructed by D-L or Steamtown employees in a specifically designated area. Please also refrain from placing debris on the rails, including coins, or objects for the creation of keepsakes and souvenirs.
If a railroad employee asks you to move, in an effort to clear railroad property or right of way, please respect their wishes. They should be treated with the courtesy and with the respect they deserve. We are all working to make this a safe and enjoyable event.
We ask that drone usage be kept to a minimum with respect and safety in mind. Drones and general airspace are governed by the FAA but in the case of violation of personal privacy or reckless endangerment local authorities may become involved. Please do not operate drones in a fashion which will be distracting to railroad employees or otherwise be perceived as a breach of safety or general railroad protocols.
Finally, the Delaware-Lackawanna is a freight hauling railroad and the supply chain cannot be interrupted. Be aware that freight trains will be using the tracks throughout the period while #4014 is on display Steamtown, and that a constant danger remains if trespassing on railroad property.
We are all working to make this event as safe and enjoyable as possible. Please work with us to guarantee the safety of railroad employees, and the viewing public.
ENJOY THE SPECTACLE BUT ALWAYS CONDUCT ONE’S SELF IN A SAFE MANNER
