As a resource of outdoor gear reviews—even when it's not season—here's a test run of the Brave 8 camera that I received to review. Overall, it's a decent camera for anyone looking for a GoPro Hero action camera, at about half the retail price of one.

While those used to the GoPro system may need to get used to its different sounds and slightly different operation, those new to action cams will be satisfied with what this camera has to offer—and without breaking the budget. Also serves great as a formidable secondary or backup camera, as it shoots up to 4K, 60 fps, photos at 48 megapixels—and is water immersible up to 33 ft. deep.
