Some shippers have rail-sized needs without direct access to a rail-served facility. That is where transloading can make the difference.

At our Boston Street Bulk Terminal, we help transfer bulk commodities between trucks and railcars, giving customers a way to combine the reach of rail with the flexibility of truck movement.

We like this service because it solves a real operational problem: making rail possible for customers who need the capacity, economics, and reliability of rail, even when the tracks do not run directly to their facility.

Our work sits in a very practical place: between local businesses, the Port of Baltimore, and the national freight rail network.

We provide switching service between the Port and our Class I connections with CSX Transportation and Norfolk Southern, helping freight move from one point to the next with fewer gaps in the process.

For more than a century, we’ve been part of how Baltimore moves. Long before digital systems and dashboards, Canton Railroad was already connecting industries across the region and creating opportunity.

Now, we enter a new phase. One where we aim to be closer to our clients, our partners, and the Baltimore community we serve.
