On this day in 1995, Disneyland's PeopleMover closed permanently after nearly three decades of giving guests a unique view of Tomorrowland from above.

The attraction opened on July 2, 1967, as part of the redesigned Tomorrowland, carrying guests on elevated tracks for a relaxing tour of the land. Its innovative electric propulsion system was a perfect fit for a land built around movement, technology, and the promise of the future.

The PeopleMover also reflected Walt Disney's fascination with transportation as an attraction, an idea that helped inspire the WEDway PeopleMover system after the 1964-65 New York World's Fair.
