I recently saw a segment where a morning news anchor suggested people “use” a travel advisor for advice… then go book it themselves.

That’s not a travel hack. That’s a misunderstanding of how this industry works—and honestly, it’s disrespectful to the advisor.

This is a full-time career, not a side hobby.

When I plan a trip, I’m:
• researching resorts
• comparing options
• matching the right experience to the right
client
• providing firsthand insight you won’t find online
• and being there if anything goes wrong

What most people don’t realize is that advisors are paid by suppliers after you travel. Sometimes that means waiting months—sometimes over a year—to be compensated for the work already done.

So when someone takes that work and books elsewhere, it’s not “saving money”… it’s choosing not to support the person who helped make it happen.

If you prefer to plan everything yourself, that’s completely fine.
But if you reach out to a professional, respect the process.

This isn’t just trip planning—it’s a business, a service, and a livelihood.
