Here, you'll find a selected collection — places worth building a holiday around, not booking on a whim. This one takes preparation to arrive at, and that's exactly the point.
Sussurro sits on the Nhamabue Peninsula, on the Mozambican mainland, north of Vilanculos — seven private bungalows where a calm turquoise lagoon meets the wilder edge of the Mozambique Channel.
Meals here follow the rhythm of the day rather than a fixed hour — breakfast unhurried on the terrace, lunch as a private castaway picnic on the ocean side of the peninsula, dinner beneath the stars, and one evening given entirely to a bonfire on the property's own stretch of beach. Everything — the meals, the w**e, Sussurro's own cocktails — comes included, so the only real decision each day is how slowly to move through it.
And there is no shortage of ways to fill the hours, if filling them is what you want. Sunset sails aboard traditional dhows. Mornings spent drifting through mangrove forests along the Govuro River. Snorkeling and paddleboarding across the lagoon, or deeper dives out toward Bazaruto. A boat trip to Santa Carolina — a deserted island holding the ruins of a 1950s hotel once visited by artists chasing inspiration. Or, just as easily, nothing at all.
This isn't a place you stumble into. It's one you plan for.
If that sounds like the kind of trip you're after — I design exactly this.
