The cheek on this one…..We realized we were out of Michigan this time last year and must have missed the great stink bug migration from the great outdoors to indoor our RV. This is the most impressive place they’ve been spotted so far. I fear we’ll be finding them nestled in places for ages. Hope they like Florida 😳😒.

The indoor Chihuly exhibit exhibit is leaving in October of 2026, so, I made sure to get here first. What a beautiful sculpture garden. We did pay extra for the hop on hop off shuttle which takes you around and gives a narration about the park. So many areas to love and spend more time in. We were also pressed for time as rain was moving in, however, we saw as much as we could before it poured.

We had a wild walk out to the Ludington North Breakwater Light with the waves crashing up and over the jetty with the wind. Definitely kept you cool on a warm late summer day. Lake Michigan has so many lighthouses, of all shapes and sizes, to visit. This ended up being a red flag day meaning dangerous swimming conditions. Waves were fun to watch though.

The Old Mission Point Lighthouse is a great drive at the end of the peninsula. You can visit the lighthouse, play in the sand and water, and then stop at wineries on the way back. It’s my second time here, and I enjoyed it as much.

I will definitely be spending some more time in Charlevoix, MI. Really enjoyed both the South Pier Light Station and the Charlevoix harbor (as well as those mushroom houses). Fun shopping, great eating, beautiful water to look at. The South Pier Light Station is 44-foot, and red so you cannot miss it, at the end of the pier. The door inside was indeed pad locked. It was a super windy day, and fun to see the waves breaking on the water.

The mushroom houses in Charlevoix, MI are super sweet to see. I believe there used to be a tour of these private residen...

The mushroom houses in Charlevoix, MI are super sweet to see. I believe there used to be a tour of these private residences, however, we could not find one running now. Constructed between 1920 and 1950, by architect Earl Young, these houses have a wavy eave and cedar shake roofs. They are definitely whimsical!
