This morning I color matched an Empress Blue Awlgrip paint color to create the gelcoat webbing finish for this Polar. So far this is my favorite webbing color we’ve done on white!

I color matched the water slide at Margaritaville this week. Used a combination of pthalo green, pthalo blue and grey pigment in white gelcoat to get my color. My husband did the repair while I enjoyed the view! Was a steamy/ fun adventure!

Color matching black is tricky. My husband is buffing this whole boat, so he buffed the area I’m color matching. The light brownish looking spot is the “black gelcoat” only ( why does it look like light brown??!). I played around with just clear and black pigment and decided it was way too dark. I ended up using about 1/3 black gelcoat and 2/3 clear gelcoat as a base. Then I used black pigment and a dab of white gelcoat to match it to this faded black color. 🖤 🎨🌺

This color match was much easier to see sprayed with a water bottle. A mix of brown, tan, white and black pigment made this color match a success. I used a base of neutral and white gelcoat. 🤎 🎨🌺

We had a rough week but we made it! I matched the hardest color boat ever and our family had the flu! This boat was so challenging!! I used neutral gelcoat, white gelcoat, yellow pigment, two different red pigments, and a dot of orange pigment. Mixing pigments and gel coat is nothing like paint. I could have mixed this paint color in one minute. We had problems with yellow pigment separation from the gelcoat and the perfect orange pigment made the color have a pink halo, so I had to give that up. Pigments can do really odd things I’ve never experienced. Also two bottles of the same pigment color may be slightly different 😅. There are not many colors of pigment out there to choose from so you have to make colors with what’s available. If I can mix this color with only one choice of yellow and two choices of red, I got this for every other boat that comes in our shop!

My first purple to match, I was super excited and it sure was a challenge! 💜 I used clear gelcoat with phthalo blue and a darker red pigment. I also added a small amount of white gelcoat.

The repair completed with the blue color match on the Ranger. I also color matched random spots on the counsel and front deck with white gel coat and brown and gray pigments. White/cream is the hardest to match because It’s usually changed color from the elements.
