The United States Supreme Court has struck down the Trump Administration's use of IEEPA Tariffs in a 6-3 decision. At this time it is uncertain how the decision will be applied and rolled out. Atron is monitoring the impacts of the decision and will provide further updates once more is known.

The new 10% tariff on China origin goods is here, but there is an exception for cargo which departed on the ocean vessel prior to February 1 at 12:01am, however the cargo must arrive and be entered for consumption no later than March 7 at 12:01am to be eligible for a waiver of the tariff.

According to news reports, the U.S. will impose 25% tariffs on neighboring Canada and Mexico plus 10% on China effective February 1. The NCBFAA is also reporting they have requested a CBP public call with the trade for early next week for additional industry guidance on this development.

Garden City Terminal: North America's Busiest Single-Container Terminal at Port of Savannah has received 4 new electric ship-to-shore cranes that will help boost the port's operating capacity by an additional 1.5 million TEU per year. These cranes can service the largest Super Post-Panamax vessels in service on the U.S. East Coast.

The Port of Savannah received four Super Post-Panamax ship-to-shore cranes Thursday, Aug. 24, upgrading the crane fleet to 34 machines at Garden City Terminal after four older cranes are retired and recycled.

Attention Importers! U.S. Customs and Border Protection has issued a notice of increase to COBRA fees on July 28, 2023 in the Federal Register. The Merchandise Processing Fee (MPF) minimum and maximum is set to increase to $31.67 and $614.35, respectively, for fiscal year 2024 on October 1, 2023. Vessel dwell time at U.S. ports is on the rise again with Savannah being the hotspot on the east coast at around 3 days to wait, and Los Angeles/Long Beach with wait times up to 4 days on the west coast. If you are exporting, book early to help alleviate any availability issues that may arise.
